We just need someone with pace.

Ideally an attacking midfielder or Striker that can take the pressure off Gyo and give Allen/Palmer a rest/ challenge them for a place on the team.

Fuck this Patterson shit-so fucking what if he was born here-I’ve seen nothing in his career that merits all the calls for his return, nothing that suggests he gives value to our team more than what we already have.

As others have said he’s had plenty of opportunities to come here before and opted to go with the money (fair play).

As for those massive fannies suggesting Naarich Todd-you need to be bitch slapped by a massive trout.

Seen nothing that suggests he improves us?

200ish championship starts, 50 goals, 45 assists

Doesnt improve us though, Allen and Palmer have way better stats lol

Have a day off all of you, its fuck all to do with him being a cov kid i couldnt care less if he supports villa and shagged a Leicester shirt, hes literally proven championship quality in a position we need filling due to Callums injury.

How many times has Paterson flipped us the bird? Why do you think it’ll be any different this time?
I’d not even entertain him now ( if he signs, I’ll support him) but ‘Cov kid, Cov fan’………. Nah no way.

I was under the impression that others ALWAYS offered better terms and it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest. I’d always go for what I thought was better offer too, we all would.

What do people think is our best 11 without any injuries and suspensions. Personally I think its :
Wilson
Rose
Fadz
Doyle
BNC
Hamer
Sheaf
Bidwell
Palmer
O’hare
Gyokeres

That is a quality Championship midfield and attack, where we are lacking is RCB, GK and someone who can come in for Fadz. And in our best 11 there’s actually only 2 loans but there is 3 out of contract and all of them are in the defence and GK (+BNC) so I know we will sell Gyokeres this summer so we will get the funds to replace, personally I’d sign Undav and Sirki Dembele, then look to the defense and invest the rest there

I don't think that's a quality attack or midfield at all really. Where are the goals in there?

Other than Gyökeres (who's been missing loads of chances) the rest of that team is beyond goal shy. In fact, I think we're about 19th in the league for goals scored.

Goals are our problem that’s lack of, not enough goal threat other than Vik so if he misses chances we struggle, even with Godden on the mend we need new blood in the striker department with or without the possible addition of Jamie Paterson. Hamer, Sheaf, Palmer and Allen not scoring any where near enough.

Hamer and Palmer can pop up with goals, O’hare when he find his shooting boots, but then he won’t be with us anymore

Hamer scores a reasonable amount for a deep playing midfielder and Palmer has shown enough to suggest he will score at a reasonable rate if he plays enough.

Goals and assists last season (2021/22)...

Patterson: 9 goals, 9 assists

O'Hare: 5 goals, 8 assists.

Hamer: 3 goals, 10 assists.

Jamie Allen, Kasey Palmer, Tyler Walker, Martyn Waghorn, Fabio Taveres and Ben Sheaf: 7 assists and 10 goals.

£400k for an experienced head who provides the one thing we lack is not an outrageous sum. He is what we need. You'd also hope a kid who spent his youth a Coventry season ticket holder may give an extra 10% than he has done this season since falling out with Swansea.

They are absolutely dreadful realistically. Lack of contributions from Midfield in our 3 seasons in the Championship.

Other than scoring against Wrexham in the cup (who might as well have had a scarecrow in goal), Palmer has scored 1 goal in 22 league appearances for us.

I'm not quite seeing it the same way as you I'm afraid.

Fair enough. Few of those appearances are full matches.

I think if he plays regularly he will score a fair few. Of course that is a big if, and will readily admit that is just my view based on what I see. I could see him scoring any more than Allen and O'Hare.

Individually our strongest midfield are decent and they compete okay with opposition but perhaps as a trio or a four collectively it isn’t good enough a player like Paterson or someone else might be the spark to make it more productive.

When we had pretty much our first choice 11 available only Burnley had better form than us.

Now I'm not saying we're the second best team in the league or anything, but clearly our best 11 is very competitive.

We had a very favourable run of fixtures which we did well in. We couldn't maintain it and are now in 15th place. No team in the country can keep its best 11 on the grass all season. Injuries/suspensions are part and parcel of the game. We can only hope Vik doesn't get injured for any period of time or we could be looking over our shoulders.

Wasn't he also playing up front when he scored? So his goals from midfield return is non existent to date.

Anis Mehmeti.

There’s a transfer shout. 22. At Wycombe and I think is the highest scoring midfielder in L1. Has played champ level.

If we have a few quid then this fella might fit the bill.

Good cover for O’Hare whilst he’s out and a good foil for Vik.

Spending money on talented 22 year olds is an investment much more often than spending any money on 31 year olds.

It’s also pretty rare for players outside the top two divisions to command those sort of fees.

Very true unless they get relegated and have the very unfair trampoline payments (parachute is a laughable term they are designed to bounce you back not slow the fall).

If Everton came down it would be mayhem with their scatter gun approach to signing players.

He’ll still be under 24 at contract end so he won’t go for nothing.

£2m plus Walker?

It’s the market we shop in hopefully with a bit more financial clout than when Joy ran the show, don’t expect millions to spend but Joy used to handbag a large percentage of incoming fees I hope now that’s the opposite.

Looks like Robins has scope to bring in another player, on top of the two he was actively pursuing, now that Waghorn has been shipped out.

Probably more one for the summer, especially if Derby don’t go up, but Eiran Cashin? Centre back, left footed, young, aggressive, seems decent on the ball as well.
