Pete O'Rourke linking us with Max Bird from Derby. Would have to think he would be a potential replacement for Hamer if he goes

I know some people are dubious of this as a source... Think this was the lad who was training with Walker prior to preseason -

Would be more than happy with Hamer out for £10 mill and Bird in as a replacement.

Would be surprised if we could get him though as he'd cost a decent fee.

Maybe Walker has tapped him up (although I'm not sure Walker talking to him about us would be necessarily a good thing)

IF and it’s a massive IF, we ended up selling Hamer and replacing with Sibley and Bird and spare change for the club/owners, I’d be happy with that.

Yes we lose our best player but we add two quality players that improves the squad overall.

I reckon he'd cost about 1.5M maybe

This kind of mentality really does concern me.

It's like fans a few weeks ago suggesting that it wouldn't be the end of the world if Hamer wasn't replaced because Howley would receive more game time. It's baffling.

The kind of mentality that supports the lads we have. No one in their right mind wants to lose Gus yet,but I trust our management team to get someone in to replace him.
In the mean time I for one wont dismiss the guys we already have. Especially as non of them have let us down yet.

This fucking nonsense has completely infested this board.

You don't support the lads by saying they are all perfect on a message board, you support them by getting behind them at 3pm on a Saturday in the stadium.

This place is about objective discussion.

I'm with you until the objective bit really - none of it's objective, Grendel's hatred of Allen is no more objective than TGP's son loving him and thinking he's the superstar of the side (his son has a point ).

But yeah, it's a true mentalist that thinks we wouldn't miss Hamer without replacing him, and that replacing him would be easier said than done.

He still thinks he is great and is waiting for the squad numbers to come out before ordering his shirt for the third year.
