I recon from SBBs comments Panzo makes sense

Who do we recon the player from "top premiership club" is?

Callum Doyle at Man City plays both positions, probably due a season in the championship

Alvaro Fernandez would fit the bill

Why on earth would it be Panzo, unless Forest see they made a mistake and he is not Premier league standard?

He’s barely got in their side since signing and now they’re a division higher.

Given he's made one appearance since he signed in January I think it's safe to say he isn't in their plans this season.

He doesn’t pick his clubs well…or just isn’t very good, I guess we’ll soon find out!

Would love to be wrong but cant see that happening. He was nearly joined Dortmund so Id imagine he sees himself at a higher level

I've spoken about my reservations on him before. Forest is his third club at the age of 21.

As you say either he's chosen poorly and has been unfortunate or he's another in a long line that just hasn't really progressed beyond his 'wonderkid' status.

Might be bollocks but was reported in the S*n

Either way he'd be playing for a team in a top league and have a chance to test himself in Europe competition

With regards to the top PL side.... I took a look at the Man City EDS. They've got 5 players that would fit a Left-sided description.

Callum Doyle,
Josh Wilson-Esbrand,
Oscar Tarensi,
Luke Mbete-Tabu,
Juan Larios.

Can't say I know anything about them, but they must have something about them to be at Man City

Doyle was at Sunderland last season. Played CB there I think, not sure he particularly stood out but did get 36 games under his belt in mens football.

He was a key player for the England U19 side that won the Euros this summer. Played more as LB/LWB I think.

would say its more to do with healthy competition, keeping the squad depth for the amount of games we play and maybe injuries.

But, again, why would Bidwell be happy with being the healthy competition, where a loanee ends up ahead of him?

Also, why would it be a wise use of budget for Bidwell not to be the de facto first choice at the start of the season? And, if that ends up being the case, why would a loanee choose to come here to be backup?

I guess if he's the backup LWB and the backup LCB in one, he should still get plenty of game time.

But if you were Bidwell, who's been first choice for a number of play-off chasing championship sides, why would you be happy being backup? I actually like Allen, but given his background is Rochdale and Burton (a relegation season at this level) being general first choice replacement is probably a lot easier sell then it is to someone who comes from a position where, to put it bluntly, they've been playing at a higher standard than us up until now.

It's the same with Kane really isn't it - why would you have an established Championship player as first reserve? if nothing else, the use of wages should surely be for first team, and the challenge for the first team place is somebody aspirational, with designs on pushing that first teamer out, but who won't expect to be there right at the start.

Problem with a loanee is as they're only here temporarily (so therefore signing for their supper, be it here, their parent club, or elsewhere) they need first team football really.

Games are compressed this season so ideally you'd like 2 starters in each position to allow rotation.

What we really need is loanees whose parent clubs aren't necessarily expecting them to be first choice every week but want them to be part of match day squads with the occasional playing time as sub or injury cover as they have no chance of getting that experience the level above and they thing L1 won't be enough of a challenge.

The problem with that of course is finding them, as you really want your player playing and, if they're not, then you could argue they're probably not good enough to use up some loan resource. I appreciate it's easier said than done but if doing that, your energies turned towards finding a McCallum equivalent are surely the way forward - at least we'd have the player ready to step in ourselves, then.

I would love to be in your camp. To be fair, I was pretty optimistic on keeping all 3 until SBB's post above.

And if we were to need to replace for example Hamer, wouldn't you want that replacement bedded in, couple of friendlies etc to mould in with our style of play etc considering they would be replacing a vital cog in the team?

We all know Robins would not want to be scraping around at the end of the window 6 games in for a replacement
