If the club are not doing a Johnson on us, we are well in the bottom quarter of income in the Championship and could be back to about forth lowest budget. Hull have got rich owners now and Sunderland have 30k gates to bump up their revenue. The relegated sides will be awash with money, although Burnley are taking a shit or bust risk to get back up in one season. West Brom and Sheff Utd still have big parachute payments and now have managers more likely to take them further up the league. Cardiff seem to be spending above their station in the hope of promotion. The chickens are coming home to roost at many clubs following little revenue during Covid and repayment of loans to the authorities.
If we can keep our best players, and add some quality loans like Forest did after Christmas we could be the dark horses for the play offs again. We need our best players to keep fit. This was a problem last year and perhaps why we have the new physio from Chesterfield.

Kelland Watts could be a name MR would consider. Young LCB who is being sent out on loan, sort of fits a need.

BTW no knowledge,as topic asks for a transfer shout

Has there been any interest from other clubs in any of these players?

I don't think waggy will go , I do think he will play a much bigger part this season and will be much better than last season. Very much liked and respected by the players and staff. I have my fingers crossed he can avoid injury .

Yeah, have a feeling Waghorn's going to be a big part of the squad this season. If the size of someone's legs is a measure of how good a season they'll have, he'll be banging 'em in. Bloke is hench.

I've heard we're in for Marcus Hall. Experienced left back within the Championship. Taken a slight hiatus from the game. Also former England under 21 captain. Definitely a prospect to consider.

We do need cover for the striker positions. Obviously both Walker and Waghorn have been very disappointing but I feel we need to keep one and I would prefer it to be Walker as he has potential to be a Championship player if he develops parts of his game.

Maybe Waghorn will be better this season but I didn't see much last year to instil confidence. Maybe covid and injuries were the issue but I wonder if it is just his best days are behind him.

Yes agreed we need cover. I've no problem with them staying if we can't shift them but would prefer to see them both go and another striker brought in to cover Godden and Vic (no idea who that player would be)

Waghorn comes in for a lot of unnecessary stick, before he got injured last season he played a key part in linking the play and making us more fluid going forward.

Yes he does. Some of the criticism is way over the top. His link up play is good and you could see flashes of it again towards the end of the season. He's never gonna get us 10+ goals but he can do other things well. But he doesn't get into our starting (best) XI and is on a big wage as a rotation option.

I think he is a gifted footballer but should score a lot more than he does which makes selecting him difficult.

Good football brain but his legs have gone. Watching him slow down our transitions in the last couple of matches was painful.

He definitely got more stick than he deserved, but at the same time scoring one goal in an entire season for whatever multitude of reasons simply isn't good enough. Based on last season we should be looking for better, but it seems like we are going to have to settle as things stand.

It’s difficult to know how good (or bad!) he is, as he goes from club to club without playing much.

Not just other journalists, he comes on here and takes stuff from that and turns it in to a clickbait story.

Not sure Cardiff have been splashing the cash, their signings have been frees and in the main, underwhelming.

To be fair Forest don't have a relationship with Turner so he's hardly going to ring up the club and ask if we're interesting in bringing in one of their players.

The next best thing is to contact his counterpart at the Nottingham Post to see if they've heard anything.

It's at least more proactive than his usual tactics.

Not sure I'd be relying on the physio from Chesterfield. Have a look at some of his (her - thanks @mark82 ) previous work

Chesterfield's injury record last season was appalling so I wouldn't hold your breath.

Now the Huddersfield manager has left, does this mean we can sign Hudlin?

It was apparently a done deal a month ago and he hasn’t been training with Solihull. I wonder if his pesky agent has left him in limbo?

I think he has turned them down now because of this and is heading to Man City to play alongside Haarland.

Tbh I've no real problem with having Vik, Godden, Walker and Waghorn as the 4, the only reason I would want to be moving Walker and Waghorn on is simply because they are up there with the top earners. It's obvious we need some movement before we're willing to do any real business and the team needs a decent amount of surgery at the back in particular.

Couple of options which I think could be feasible.

1. Luke Mbete. Left footed centre half from Man City. Maybe offered in place of the other of their players we were after? England U 19 international

2. Haydon Roberts. Left Footed centre half from Brighton. England Youth player

3. Leo Hjelde from Leeds. Left sided Centre half who has also played LB for Leeds in cup games

I understand this perspective. I’d like to see one moved on to enable us to bring a young loan in with true pace and a trick. When we are dominating teams we do sometimes lack that little bit of individual skill that breaks down teams that are defending deep.
