I think McCallum has the makings of a decent LCB and would also be able to play his usual role if needed. He is strong in the air and comfortable on the ball. If we could then get Cochrane or the likes as a quick wing back I would be pleased.

He's far too small to even be considered for that role.

I enjoy how short or selective so many people's memories are. None of the 'big three' - or Sheaf to take just one other example - were players anyone mentioned on here before they signed, or would have suggested or hoped for us to bring in.

Robins and the recruitment lot have enough credit for us all to just relax and see what happens. Instead of stressing, wouldn't it be more logical to be excited about who they turn up and how they work out, whatever their record up to now?

Take Palmer; the same team that identified him chose O'Hare. Neither did much before they joined. Maybe we can try being excited about filling a gap in the squad with a player that has the raw skills needed for the position and see what happens.

not the cannavaro era anymore mate, 5’9 centre backs just won’t cut it anymore especially in this league. we need proper centre backs.

Article says it’s well below their valuation, they’re looking for double that

Why would we sign another wing back when we'd have Bidwell and McCallum

i’m actually quite excited for Palmer. has that premier league pedigree and technique, just need to sort out other aspects to get the best out of him. not a prick like bright either.

how much did we pay for Hamer? 2 odd million i believe, think if we went after Ferguson we could snap him up for a similar fee. better player than Hamer initially was when he joined.

Because if we had Bidwell and McCallum covering LWB and LCB then we need another LWB. If however we manage to get a LCB in then this won't be an issue.

He is taller than 5'9 though admittedly still short for a centre back. However if you have a 6ft centre back who can jump 10 inches and a 5ft 10 centre back who can jump 13 inches, which one is better?!

I'm sure one had Jamie Allen down as 5"10 which is frankly hilarious given he looks like he's just walked off the set of The Borrowers.

Do we really think we would have punted more than a million on Hamer? That isn't really in our structure normally?

I liked McCallum good lad can play wb, fb & left side cb. Been strange he hasn’t got into Norwich or QPR more regularly. Bidwell is similar too so I reckon the two between could be decent.
Bit unfair saying he couldn’t get in the qpr team more regularly he was out injured from October till March. He played most of the matches before injury and most once he was back.

I missed the Moore rumour, WTF is that all about? He was a fantastic signing and probably our most reliable keeper since Westwood. Is it that bigger clubs than us have noticed and want him, or another one like Kane that we're bored of him and decided we don't like now so are getting rid?

Cannavaro was great in the air considering his height. Besides if he's as good as Cannavaro there, I'd take him! Also, half the teams play relatively passing football compared to the old days, so surely a big hulking header of the ball at CB is less common now? "Not the Cannavaro era", Jesus, he would love it now!

mate are you comparing sam mccallum to cannavaro? in a league composed of teams with physical and huge strikers we can’t afford to be beaten in strength and duels no matter if our lads can jump like lebron james. there are plenty of ball playing centre backs that can play from the back not sure what the obsession with some users is to bring in full backs as centre back cover. someone fitting the mold of jcs would do us just fine it’s not like passing skill has been reserved for fullbacks only…
