Interesting that Sunderland had a similar gap at the top to us and ended up nose diving and finishing in the play offs, albeit scraping their way to promotion.

That's a good point...compared to previous years, Burnley (especially) and Leeds too, were huge outliers to everyone else. One thing they had that we haven't is two teams as good as Leeds and Burnley on their tail.
For me the thing that stands out is that the parachute teams and favourites were hot on top spots heels at that pointCOVENTRY - Currently we are on 28 pts

Top 6 after 12 matches in the EFL Championship 2024/25 (matchday 12, fixtures 25–27 Oct 2024):
- Sunderland — 28 pts (P12 W9 D1 L2, GF 23 GA 9).
- Burnley — 23 pts (P12 W6 D5 L1).
- Leeds United — 23 pts (P12 W6 D5 L1).
- Sheffield United — 22 pts (P12 W7 D3 L2).
- West Bromwich Albion — 20 pts (P12 W5 D5 L2).
- Blackburn Rovers — 19 pts (P12 W5 D4 L3).
I think Sunderland settled for playoffs quite a way before the season ended precisely because of that. They looked very ordinary when we played them in the league. That's a good point...compared to previous years, Burnley (especially) and Leeds too, were huge outliers to everyone else.

We were 18th at the time I think and made the playoffsInteresting that Sunderland had a similar gap at the top to us and ended up nose diving and finishing in the play offs, albeit scraping their way to promotion.
Ipswich parachute down, not the BluntsI think at this point it’s highly unlikely that two parachute clubs go up automatically. Southampton and Sheffield United’s starts have been too bad, Leicester have a point deduction hanging over them and Ipswich, while being the most likely to get to the auto, also haven’t started great. There will be a spot there for someone like us to grab, we just have to keep doing what we’re doing. Evidence so far would suggest that we’re better than Middlesbrough, Millwall, Bristol City and the like but it’s a long season and there will be plenty more twists and turns to come.
