Leon Clarke scores a great goal then pretty much vanishes for the rest of the game, we reckon he had about 7 touches all second half, rarely wins a header at all, always jumps too early. He will score goals but will City win anything with him up front????

I agree but to be fair he wasn't getting the delivery he needed and when he did they closed him down too quick, goal was a beauty though!

Shows we need to bring in some more strikers and a few defenders really.

He won't get many touches without better service. The ball went to Elliott in the hole behind him a lot more, but Elliott's first touch was usually to give it away today..

Someone phoned in and said he's not good enough.

He has 19 goals so far this season.

As Cyrille said on CWR, anyone who gets 20 goals a season on a regular basis is a good striker.

Please not more Leon bashing.....in this league he's as good as we are going to get..he's not DMG or Marlon- both Championship strikers....we are a 3rd Tier team... he's scored more than most at this level... why give him grief he was no worse than others today was he.. scored a good goal as I saw it?

Service wasn't the best today but if its not on a plate for him forget it ! His goal was just that, provided with a superb ball, any time he has to use his 'brain' he's flummoxed !! We are still playing as if McG is around and he's not McG.......... the opposition just put a big man up against him and he stands next to him like a dog round a lamppost !!

Leon was top drawer on Wednesday.. I guess being the #9 at any club brings its own set of variables..
>Score contribute on par with team mates= get slaughtered..
>Play well but don't score= get slaughtered..
>Play well, score but miss a sitter for the winner= get slaughtered..

Unless I watched a different match than others it wasn't Leon's fault we lost today was it?

It's getting ridiculous.

Week after week and thread after thread criticising Leon Clarke.

The bloke has 19 goals this season. He has now played 13 games for us and has 7 goals. That is a ratio of better than 1 in 2. That is a fantastic strike rate.

Where are all the threads criticising Elliott I wonder? Elliot has just 4 goals for us.

I don't want to see anyone slated, but if a player needed slating out of the strikers you would have to say it should be him.

I only pose the questions as although he's scored a few and played well enough at Bury, I've just not been inspired overall and feel we are not the same team going forward at all since the damaging loss of D McG. I see Ipslightwhich couldn't score today either against Udders feeled !? Has Clarke ever been involved with a successful team ?

Elliot was never going to set the world alight Otis but we all had high hopes for Leon leading the line. He has a good strike rate but the teams results in critical games are beginning to dip now don't you think ??

And how is that Clarke's fault?

How many chances did Clarke get today? One! How many did he score? One!

We need other players to be scoring too.

Thought he had a good game today, his job is to score goals and he scores goals, once again let down by the inability to keep a clean sheet.

Does it matter how many touches he has though? How many does mcsheffrey get a game and how many goals has he got?

McSheffrey, who is paid WAY more than Clarke, has scored 3, thats right, 3 goals all season

how on eath does he get away with anyone questioning this !

It is just my humble opinion, but while I think he will score goals for almost any team..................that team will not succeed because 90% of the play breaks down when the target man doesn't get anywhere near the ball. To get out of this League we are going to have to replace both Elliot and Clarke I tell thee !!

McSheffrey was hugging the touchline for most of the game per instruction but that's not the issue. Not long ago we were scoring for fun, now we have have to accept we're not dominating anyone.

That can't be right.

You saying Clarke and McGoldrick have ratio's of better than a goal a game?

Think you may have worded that incorrectly.

Clarke is not Mcagoldrick, he doesn't drop deep, he doesn't pop put wide, he doesn't appear from nowhere in the left back position, he doesn't score 25 yard screamers and he doesn't dribble past players. This is not his fault, he is what he is, and has scored 19 goals playing his game.

He is a different type of player to mcgoldrick, and there is nothing wrong with him- It's up to the management and coaching staff to come up with a plan where both Clarke excels and others can get more goalscoring opportunities.

Unbelievable thread ,getting stronger with every Skyblue performance ,was outstanding at Crewe Wednesday and took the one and only chance offered up by his teamates today ,also partnered up very well with elliot in terms of layoffs /flick ons.

Just of interest what about Elliot? He also played up front. How many goals will he score in a 46 game season?

He's useless.

I guess as long as he's scoring goals (at a rate we've rarely seen in years, might I add) you have to find some reason to complain that he's not David McGoldrick.

No, let's ignore Elliott's and Sheff's goals. We need a scapegoat and we are all focused on blaming Leon Clarke.

How dare he not score more than one goal today with the one goalscoring chance he had!!!

The cad!!

With mcgoldrick in the team we dominated in home games Walsall - we lost to numerous teams near the bottom. We still are winning away games. Nothing actually has changed.

What stupot and wingy have said.

Clarke is beginning to show he cares.

End of.

He is vastly superior to Elliot. Perhaps you were one of those booing the decision to substitute him.

He's so poor I think we may need to give Gillingham a call.
