The discussion is about you believing stuff he puts out and getting uptight if anybody points out its nonsense.

Where does loving your country come into it?

I’m serious. You’re clearly buying into the complete horse shit that comes out of Yaxleys mouth and getting overly angry about it. That’s the very definition of radicalisation.

He’s had an invitation to address congress by a republican “think” tank followed by a public ticketed event organised by the same “think” tank. The hope is that an invitation by elected congressmen will be enough to overcome the expected visa issues given his lengthy criminal record including trying to enter the US illegally on a previous occasion.

This country is going down the shit pan because we are turning into an intolerant, narrow minded and bigoted country. We led the world in moving away from racism - and now we've almost gone full circle - pandering to the bullshit of Robinson only re-inforces this view.

Waving flags around and shouting 'this is my country - you don't belong here' doesn't mean you're patriotic - it means you are a bellend.

Loving your country is about being brave enough to speak up against the things that are destroying it, and people like Robinson are front and centre in the destruction.

It's really odd that we've got these 2 different types of patriotism isn't it? I liked the country's sense of fairness, disdain for overly-dramatic displays of emotion and being tea-drinkers next to a continent of coffee lovers. Quirkiness and politeness. Those sort of things. For the other lot it's all 2 world wars, 1 world cup and Malvinas. Bulging veins and screaming 'no surrender'.

We're probably one of the most tolerant countries in the world.

For that very reason we are seeing things going down the toilet, not people reacting to badly things that are already happening.

1) Let bad cultures settle into daily life
2) See bad cultures cause issues in our society
3) React badly to said issues

At which point do you think it started going wrong? I'll give you a clue, it isn't number 3 like you think.

It is possible to be upset with the bad things that other cultures have brought to this country without being a racist and equally whilst thinking Tommy Robinson is a complete tool too. His followers are no better, but it seems that anyone is lumped in as a follower of him and labelled as such if they raise their head above the parapet to say they don't like where things are going.

Labelling people racists for airing concerns and repressing their speech will only make them less tolerant and you'll create what you're trying to avoid. Listen to those concerns, try to understand why they are concerns and deal with them instead of attempting to put everyone to one side or the other.

If you point out Muslim rape gangs, the standard retort is "what about the catholic church?" or "did you know most rapes are carried out by white men". That doesn't address the issue that there is clearly a problem among that community with gangs raping young vulnerable white girls, but is playground behaviour "he's doing it too miss".

At the moment it's demos and social media trolls arguing but I can see a day where civil unrest really kicks in and the damage will irreparable to communities at that stage with an even greater divide, simply because people are too scared to stand up for what's right for fear of reprisal.

Indeed. There's a fair few in this thread.

His followers are no better, but it seems that anyone is lumped in as a follower of him and labelled as such if they raise their head above the parapet to say they don't like where things are going.

Not really. Only those who support or defend a nonentity hate preacher such as Robinson are labelled as followers of him. On a thread about Tommy Robinson, it would have died rather swiftly if people hadn't tried to defend the indefensible. I think it's safe to say that Robinson has employed similar lawyers to SISU, in that they'll argue whatever's best for their client ahead of principles, and even if it contradicts what's been argued before. This thread could have been left at that, and that would be it.

Labelling people racists for airing concerns and repressing their speech will only make them less tolerant and you'll create what you're trying to avoid.

Conversely, there really shouldn't be a fear of labelling racists as racists. Being scared to call people racists for fear of being shown intolerant appears to be the modern way of reversing things, to avoid such things. There are ways of phrasing things, for example. Now, I don't think *you* are a racist, but for whatever reason, there's an example in your post that I now have to pick on

If you point out Muslim rape gangs

It's the labelling of a gang as a Muslim rape gang, failing to take into account that there may be specific cultural, social issues that need looking at as to why certain people end up acting in certain ways... and the fact they're Muslim can be pretty irrelevant really to that. A rapist is a rapist - doesn't matter if they're black, white, green, from the planet Zog. They're all abhorrent. Bad people are bad people.

the standard retort is "what about the catholic church?" or "did you know most rapes are carried out by white men"

A retort used to those who choose to use the identifier Muslim so it becomes currency, as an attempt to show that the issue is Muslims because they're bad. Now, note I mentioned above that I don't think *you* are racist, having read your previous posts. I do, however, consider it unfortunate you choose to use the identifier in such a sweeping way (if with more moderate intentions than some) and, well... that's why it needs to be pulled up. Likelwise, it doesn't solve any issue to reduce it to 'Muslim = rapist'.

At the moment it's demos and social media trolls arguing but I can see a day where civil unrest really kicks in and the damage will irreparable to communities at that stage with an even greater divide, simply because people are too scared to stand up for what's right for fear of reprisal.

This can of course be taken both ways. Personally I find it distasteful when racists jump on very real social issues and social evils that need rooting out - because they have a wider agenda. As it happens, such racists end up causing more problems, because time that could be spent rooting out perpetrators of evil is instead spent pointing out that spreading hate - from whatever position - causes more harm than good.

What's right, in my view, is to treat people as people. Most white people I meet are decent, as are, well... all Muslims I've met. Totally irrelevant really, but I've yet to meet a Muslim sex offender, have met a couple of white Christian ones. They don't deserve the identifier of 'white Christian rapist' though, they're just rapists... who deserve to rot in prison.

People tend to hate bullying and manipulation - hence why radical clerics are despised, and just about everybody would be delighted top see the back of them.

Likewise, most people would acknowledge the harm Tommy Robinson does to his 'cause'. He's such a ridiculous, inauthentic voice that most right-minded people don't trust a word he says. The problem then, is that he stops people who *do* have trustworthy voices, who *do* try and root out and draw attention to crimes that are so repulsive, and end up not heard amidst the furor.

The sooner he retires from public view, the better. He's no better than those he claims to oppose. And saying *that*, equally, doesn't make me pro rape - by Muslims or anybody.

Anyway, my blood pressure means I have to bow out of such threads, ev=en if I get sucked in from time to time. No doubt this will keep running as long as Tommy Robinson has funds to bring court cases... or cause them

All fair points and perhaps I could have chosen other examples, but it's the one issue that currently stirs up much of the vitriol on both sides.

With regards to TR withdrawing, of course he should do so, but there will be another that people are associated with - there always is, right back to Enoch Powell. In more recent times it has been, Nick Griffin, Nigel Farage, Tommy Robinson, Sun reader, Daily Mail reader and I'm certain another will be along to fill the void as he exits. That kind of lazy generalisation suggests all from the same pot and yet some of those even in that list have extreme viewpoints that would differ greatly, similarly as I don't think all Brexiteers are racists and all Remainers are communists, but that's the divide we're continually being sold at present.

Good to see you posting again. Not a big fan of JC but not sure he deserves to be grouped together with Robinson.

I wish all these dogmatic, magic loving, religious types would just do the right thing and move on to their version of the 'promised land' that they so long for. Why the fuck are they wasting time in this shitty existence when they can have utopia with one easy step. Get cracking delusional twats.
