If they were gonna nick anyone from Sunderland they should go for McGeady

Not a bad player, he's out of contract at the end of June, however if Charlton avoid relegation he might sign for them permanently.

I'd rather sign Brian Flanagan, he can run Cocktails and Dreams in the telegraph stand next season. Cuba libres are on me.

If Mark Robins thinks he’s good enough that will do for me, 28, good age experience wise. MacFadzean became a main man this season and we haven’t really got a like for like replacement if needed with good experience.
Rumours proberly bollox anyway.

Off topic but Sunderland keeper McLaughlin has signed for Rangers, so Lee Burge is their current number one.

Just saw this story pop up from CovTel on my FB feed and their subheadline was "Coventry fans are unimpressed by this Sunderland AFC transfer rumour". If they are playing the moral high ground and not saying what everyone is thinking..... from what I saw of him on TV last season and from the STD Netflix-athon, he was <ahem> terrible.

Besides, aren't we supposed to be trying for that French CB ? Different class entirely though also possibly a Malaga replacement ?

They had the joint best defensive record with us this season, he's not a bad player. Not sure there is anything in this though.

Would have to change the formation back to two up.
Dunno about the one behind playing in the hole though.

I remember reading something that they had a defender on loan and when he got injured their results went down. It was a defender so I guess this bloke and Willis were not the strength of an equally good defensive record.

Bailey Wright, Aussie international on loan from Bristol City - easily their best defender at the time.
He's out of contract now & I think they'll be pursuing him on a permanent deal.

If he changed them from an average defence to 2nd best in the league should we be looking at him? again Bristol City! so shows how much we need to improve when 2 of the best in League 1 were BC reserves/Kids

He's not as bad as some people would have you believe but he's also not an improvement in what we have.

Isn’t he likely to come in as 4th/5th choice and add depth?

Should we really be looking at spending this amount of money on a 4/5 choice CB when we have a few holes in the first XI?

Not for me

I honestly don’t think he’s that bad. They had the second best defence in the league, he’s not likely to be on much, and after our starting 3 we only have Pask with first team experience. We really need at least 2 players for each position

there are holes but I trust robins on this. If he thinks the guy is good enough then he is good enough for me

Bailey Wright is a solid player for championship football, I think he only played a handful of games which came during their best spell, definitely someone we should look at.

Flanagan on the other hand is dog shit.

Spending this amount of money? He's free and probably not on huge wages

But he still takes up more wages than we maybe able to afford for a 4th or 5th choice player.
