To win the title v Portsmouth (2 Viewers)

To be crowned champions at the Portsmouth game we need to pick up 1 more point than Ipswich over the next 3 games.*

They have Norwich (a), Portsmouth (a) and Middlesbrough (h).

As we know we have Sheff W (h), Blackburn (a) and Portsmouth (h).

We'd have 2 games left after that and Ipswich would have 4.

Feels pretty doable to me.

*Unless we pick up less than 4 points from those games AND either Middlesbrough and Millwall keep winning.

Fuck knows about the maths

All I know is to be champions v Wrexham, we have to be 7 points clear of Ipswich
This is correct - by my calculations we need to be on 94 points when the Wrexham game finishes IF Ipswich win all of their games between now and then - that would be 5 wins as they would still have 2 games left to play after we play Wrexham.

Every time they drop points the total of 94 gets reduced the same, so for example if they lose at Norwich tomorrow then we'd need to be on 91 after the Wrexham game etc

Fucking hell that's bit annoying. Imagine not being able to lift the trophy on last home game :(
As i've put above, it's all down to how many points they drop between now and then as I don't see us dropping many.

If they were to draw against Norwich and Boro - so 4 points dropped, we would only need to be on 90 points by full time against Wrexham. We basically need them to fuck up a couple of times in their next 5 games.

Yeah hopefully it doesn't come to that and we get our day in the sun

I'd relax, we're more likely secure the title v Portsmouth (see my original message).

Ipswich would need to gain 6 points on us between now and Wrexham to take it into the last week. We play 4 games in that time and they play 5. And our games are easier on paper.

Ipswich lose to Norwich tomorrow and it's on. Ipswich can then only finish on 90pts (18 from the last six, they're on 72 just now.) We beat Wednesday 87pts and 4 points against Blackburn and Portsmouth and it's ours on 91pts. 3 points against Blackburn and we'll have winning goal difference anyway but would have to wait unless they were to drop more points in the meantime...

Should add to the atmosphere, we’ll probably have to beat Wrexham to win the league, just how you’d want to win it, not by somebody else’s result,

A prediction is saw today (based on ppg over the last 10 games), gave Ipswich 2nd place on 87 (we got 97).
That 12 point gap sure is sweet.

Win 4 or 3 & 1 draw and Ipswich can't stop us by FT at Wrexham.

Any less and they need to go 5 on the spin or 4 wins & we drop a few points.

So now promotion is sealed and it’s about securing the title, will Lamps stick with the core group which broadly finished the game or use it as a chance to look at a few players with an eye on the future and to reward the past for those that will get moved on. Suspect the former, but for instance why play Esse ahead of giving Markelo or KkH a run out, Onyeka looks tired so start Torp, maybe a nostalgic start for Bidders instead of JDS and maybe Allen in for Rudi?

Not a chance. Will stick with the core group, like he said after the game. It’s not over. We go again Tuesday.

Of course there will be rotation but we’re not here for Sentiment unfortunately when the title is still up for grabs.

We should now be able to play with more freedom. Last two games we’ve been tentative, nervous. As an aside, what a job Michael Hughes is doing at Blackburn.

Can nt really see the panic, forget all the maths, we need a max of one win , probably one more point and we will be champions, I do nt see Ipswich catching us now with their games left . Pusb
