Sometimes when things at home or work get a little too much and it feels like I'm struggling a little, I come on here and realise at least I'm not a grown man losing his shit over a football match.
In all seriousness some people look to the football for an escape when other things aren't great. When that escape is also complete shit, it's not ideal.

I think Doug’s fucked the culture at the club and it doesn’t much matter who is manager we are fucked and on the decline.
Create a new culture then.
That or do nothing and sulk our way to relegation.
Dunno what people want really? Are you going to sack the owner?
When things are going this badly managers pay the price. Its football, its what happens.

Are people still convinced we’re a game or two away from one of robins classic winning runs up the table?

Because I think we just played a genuine relegation candidate and looked 2nd best for most of it.
Did we watch the same game?
We looked second best for about half hour after we scored that’s about it
And even then weren't that greatly threatened

I think it’s time for back to basics. Stop pissing about up front. Front three of Wright, Simms and Saka - our 3 best forwards. Stop pissing about at the back. MVE Thomas Kitching Bidwell/jds. Rotate Torp and Rudoni. Tell Sheaf and Eccles to stay fit for a long season ahead for them.

All the supposed building blocks are in place ….. or so we are told , to get to the next level ……so another , more experienced or certainly tactically knowledgeable person , would jump at this opportunity, before we have Christmas/ new year here & be some way adrift of the pack ?

I can't see anything other than us burning through manager after manager once Robins goes.
Vik windfall used to pay compo.
I think that's it in a nutshell. Absolutely no guarantee at all of any new manager turning it around and lasting any length of time here.

Do we really want to go back to constantly changing managers?

Stability is so important. King needs to back Robins though and change his thinking on terms of loans and experienced players.

Completely agree, it's what we should have been doing for a while.
Although maybe not Simms, he really doesn't deserve to keep his place.

Robins slaughtered simms and dovin, whilst he was right you can’t do that in the media, I think he knows he’s getting the boot

robins clearly has stuff going on and isn’t committed like he was, he probably fell out with viveash and it’s fallen apart

I think king will give the job to George

There are a few things which I think needs to change urgently.
Firstly DK needs to acknowledge that the coaching appointments have been dire , the recruitment team questionable. Any evidence that the defensive coach is doing a good job ? None whatsoever and utterly bewildering how we are set up to defend set pieces.
Team balance needs to be addressed. No doubt that the midfield set up is horribly wrong and recruitment is urgently needed in this area. Bidwell at left back is ok but JDS is way short of what is required.
There needs to be a settled starting 11 in my opinion and none of this predetermined substitution nonsense . There has been much talk from MR previously regarding players "gelling" .How the bloody hell can they gel if the team changes weekly ?
This is a test of DK and his true intentions .Money has to come from somewhere to solve the issues and tough decisions have to made. He will stand or fall by these decisions.
Nothing concrete to base this on and just a hunch but I would not be at all surprised to find out that Mr Ashley is watching this situation very closely.

I’m sure
I'm very critical of MR for a lot of reasons and said that he doesn't come across as knowing what needs fixing to get us out of this.

However - I'm really not convinced that anything changes under a new manager. There is something fundamentally wrong with this group of players that I think the slate needs to be wiped clean with them and rebuild the whole thing. Fully aware that's not realistic though, either MR or a new manager needs to make it work with the bulk of this squad.

There's two circumstances under which I agree MR needs to go:

1. It looks like we are actually at risk of going down and need to roll the dice with a new manager. For me this can be anywhere between the next int break and Christmas.

2. This second one depends on MRs level of involvement with transfer policy, but if it's deemed he is the one responsible for recruitment failures and we need to rebuild from scratch then he should go. If the blame lies with DK (which a lot seems to) then DK needs to back his manager with what he needs.

One thing that is grating with me is DKs silence - he needs to come out and show a bit of support. Even if he is considering a change just a bit of moral support for MR and the team (especially given the circs) is the least he can do.
I had the same thought regarding the DK silence, is this the longest we have been since he took over the club without hearing from him in some form ? I feel things are happening in the background, even if it’s just contingency plans if we find ourselves in the bottom 3 come the next international break

Yeah, I know. It is for me too. I've been supporting and going home and away for decades. But, some of the stuff written on here over the last few weeks, from presumably functioning adults, has been laughable.

I love robins and everything he’s done.

BUT i see nothing to give me hope currently - passive, flat, lifeless, limited team - it’s like watching a dying animal currently. We can go on about coaching , recruitment etc - huge issues and talked to death.

But we can’t just keep carrying on saying it will come good, my gut says it’s different to previous “slow” starts - we are bang in trouble this time. Is sacking him the answer, don’t know, but something has to change, sadly that’s pretty much only thing that can.

Last night was just so bad, made Preston game look good.

How long do you give it before a change needs to happen

Say we lose on Saturday, is it game over for MR? Do you give it until Christmas?

I appreciate Doug King’s position here, he’s damned if he does pull the trigger as fans may turn against the decision but if he don’t then there is a risk we get remain in a relegation battle and potentially get dragged down to L1.

For me at this point DK has to look at the facts, look at the end of last season and this one, results have been nowhere near good enough. This isn’t on the basis of last night it’s an accumulation of results and performances.

Thanks for everything Mark, but change is required, because currently there doesn’t seem to be any suggestion this changes.
As others have said, I don't think sacking MR would actually make much of a difference. Of course he deserves criticism - every year he doesn't seem to be able to find the right formation from the off, he rarely changes it during a game if it isn't going well, he doesn't make proactive subs to change a game and usually look predetermined like-for-like subs without looking at the way the game is going.

But everything else is just as bad.

The players look technically and mentally much worse than last year. This having brought in a whole new coaching set up seemingly built around player development and a Performance Director to deal with things like psychology yet we have players looking completely unconfident and unmotivated. Then we have a recruitment team who would appear to have recommended quite average players for top dollar prices. We've now got nothing left to sort the problems.

Then there's King, who appears to be 'interfering' by making these changes and refusing to allow transfers that won't result in a RoI, when he needs to realise the big picture is the team overall, not the transfer fees we can get from players. And you often find the former leads the latter. Good team playing well gets players sold for bigger transfer fees. Teams playing poorly and losing don't get players sold for large fees.
