There’s always anomalies, but generally the xG table is a good indicator.

I get Evo’s point. It potentially shows we’re just not taking chances and that’s the reason we’re shit.

however we’d have had a decent xG yesterday but our only shot on target was in the 92nd minute

The defence looks all over the place, there’s arguments on the pitch - MVE, Simms and Wright look totally different players from last year.

once thing robins could instil was heart and fight, remember when we were blood and thunder a few years back and we’d go right into the 95th minute. Nowadays if we go 1-0 down we don’t look like coming back. Heads drop and they coast until the end of the game

Simms wasn't great last season in large parts .

Wright has been called up twice already for international duty and I think he just looks in and out of form .

MVE doesn't look the same without sakamoto

We needed and still need a couple of older senior pros in the side

I’d argue Huddersfield and Birmingham were shit shows destined to go down at some point anyway. Rotherham also.

the two teams that really should have gone down were Sheffield Weds and Blackburn - luckily they went and found Danny Rohl and John Eustace

I would 100% agree with you on the basis I watched the game, but like I say the stats say different, and if you’re arguing that our XG means we are in a false position you also need to accept that, on the basis of the stats alone, we didn’t deserve anything from the game

the ‘goal’ was a goal, 100%, no way a handball, and on most other days that header at the end goes in so I’d argue we should’ve won it, and I also think (as per my post after the game) we aren’t a bad team and didn’t play particularly badly on Saturday, but yet we are where we are…

Not the point being made. This is the first prolonged crisis Robins has ever had with us, after delivering so much, and we have now have people angrily demanding him gone. It’s fickle and exactly what we used to laugh at teams like Sunderland about.

It means that in my opinion if we get rid of MR we are actually more likely to be relegated from the Championship. It is not a given that a new manager will improve things, while making a bad choice can easily turn a bad situation into an even worse one.

As it is I still believe that under MR we will finish in the top half of the table, and that there is no chance of us being relegated. We are simply having a bad spell, where our players are lacking confidence and under performing. That situation can still turn around very quickly.

Preston we're top early on last season but they were near the bottom of the xg table .

It showed that their form was unsustainable and it showed as they dropped down the league

What do you notice about the xg table from last season View attachment 38956

this is XG after 46 games, or 49 in the case of So’ton, so not entirely relevant to the situation at the minute

Of course the table is determined by Xg. I get it now . We really aren't just above the bottom 3. If Preston are as good a side as you have made out explain why they are 23rd in the Xg table and yet 4 points above Cov.

And as I said before - they don’t watch us every week, so their opinions of our fans is irrelevant.

Robins looks devoid of ideas and the team is getting worse. I’m sure I’d sleep better knowing that Steve the plumber from Sunderland reckons cov fans are decent for sticking behind Robins even if he gets us relegated

We were in a similar hole at a similar stage last season. The big difference is that all the leadership since then has gone, there’s no COH to come back and the team is falling out with itself on the pitch.

As I said on another thread, Robins doesn't seem to know his strongest 11, nobody up front, at the back or in goal are having time to gel before being dropped. Our better seasons have been with a regular starting 11 albeit having a smaller squad

You say the team is getting worse yet we didn’t play that badly yesterday.

The point about other teams’ fans is a side issue. The point- again- is that this is the first genuine crisis Robins has had, and he’s turned everything else around before now. It’s October, there is no relegation battle, that’s stupid talk, and yet people are all riled up demanding his head on a plate, some with quite a lot of venom.

I’m still yet to see a convincing argument that he needs to go now. He has to turn this reasonably quickly for sure, but we’re not there yet.

And to be getting all bitter & twisted about it coming up with far fetched rationalisations why “times up”, it’s shit to be honest.

you’re making things up again to suit your agenda - where is the venom?

also if it’s the first genuine crisis, what has he turned around before if they weren’t also crises?

we are fourth from bottom - a loss on Tuesday against QPR and we’re in there, with a quarter of the season gone, and with an average of 0.8 points per game, if we carry on that way we end up on 37 points, which I’d put my house on being relegation

we’ve actually been in a similar / worse vein of form since March last year, over what would be 18 games, 5 off half a season - we are well and truly in relegation form currently, and therefore in the relegation battle

I’m yet to see a convincing argument for him staying, and by the way I’m on the fence on this one, but you in particular along with a couple of others are happy to spout nonsense about others suggesting a change, and yet you have no argument as to why we should persevere other than ‘we’ve had bad starts before’ ‘he’s turned it round’ or his past achievements with us, or he’s had a personal trauma

when are we there then Ring of Steel? do we wait until after Xmas and miss the chance to change things in the transfer window because I doubt Doug will be backing Robins if it’s still shit…do we wait until we’re league one and can’t attract the same calibre of manager, and lose one or two and have to rebuild again? when do we decide to make a change and take that risk, and is that a bigger risk than sticking with what we’ve got at the minute when nothing has changed and also looks like nothing is going to…??

Why is everyone on the negative side quoting the end of last season? It's been x months or x games? I realise it suits the narrative but it also isn't relevant. Whether you want him gone on this season is of course your choice, I accept its not been good enough and understand both sides of the argument, but we completely ran out of steam after the semifinal and very quickly that huge low point followed by understandable defeat, meant nothing to play for.
