Hello, Swindon fan in peace here. Looking forward to Saturday, got my kids birthday party at the ground a couple of hours before the kick off then the match after
Anyway, think this could be a decent game, Paolo sounds really up for it in the local press and our players generally seem to up their game when we play what are considered as a bigger team.
Our captain, Alan McCormack is out injured, as is our best striker, Andy Williams although we have a sizeable squad so its not a major concern. We have been poor at home the last couple of games, some have put that down to the injury of Gary Roberts, although he is expected to start on Saturday on the left with Ritchie down the right. Up front it will be 2 of James Collins, Paul Benson or Adam Rooney.
It looks like your initial allocation was 700 and you will have 500 pay on the day tickets available which would fill the corner of the Arkells Stand (just the £25 a throw) if by chance you bring more than the 1200 we would likely open up the uncovered Stratton Bank which accomodates just over 2000 fans, normally at £19 a ticket.
Those coming by train early enough, you are spoilt for Pubs just 2-3 mins away from the station with the normal selection of Wetherspoons, Yates, cheap beer and foodetc etc. The pub nearest to the ground for away fans is The Merlin, which is the other side of The Magic Roundabout, if you from The Merlin to the ground (about 5 mins) you go past a great little chippy next to The Magic Roundabout. The away end has a new bar fitted, Bar 71 or something like that, from what i know its the normal gnats pee beer, but convenient. For those driving, the parking is not brilliant. You can pay a fiver next to the ground on the cricket pitch, there is also a bar in the cricket pavillion that is popular with away fans. My tip for this would be to get there before 2pm and there is room for about 15 cars literally on the alley that approaches the cricket ground, this is on County Road, at the junction of Manchester Road. I have parked there for 10 years now, usually get there about 2 and sit in the car for a bit with a McDonalds, which is 5 minutes from the ground.
Hope you have a safe journey down, I'm going for 2-1 Swindon, guess I would do though
