Ejected from ground at half time for smoking. 2 things....
1- thanks for allowing me to escape the shocking 2nd half performance
2- a cigarette at half time is the least I deserve. It's a wonder I am not on crack cocaine after the season we have had. I did explain this to the policeman but he didn't get it.

No warning, straight out for one breach?

Is it not illegal to smoke inside the ground?
Yes, it is illegal. Thanks for pointing that out. The bar at half time was full of people gratefully smoking but they decided to pick on me. I must have looked like I wanted an early train back to New Street or something!:(

You can smoke yourself to death as much as you want in your own home, but not in public places thanks very much.

What makes you think you're above the law?

No sympathy from me whatsoever.

I saw you getting collared. Unlucky, there must have been at least ten smoking in that pokey bar.

Not asking for sympathy or exemption from the law. Everyone around me was smoking. Just saying it was bad luck me getting singled out. Were you standing next to me? If so feel free to put in a claim for damages. You can send your claim to non-smoking sanctimonioustwats@get alife.org

You wouldn't even be thrown out of court for lightning a fag. The simple approach & the most common is to just say 'you can't smoke here, put it out' - I don't smoke - I don't cry about people that do & seriously at a game of football that's crazy.

Power mad stewards not just at the Ricoh then !

I agree with him. Hate people smoking in public places was delighted when the law came in. Clearly some people still rejoice in being rulebreakers. You claim you dont want sympathy but then keep banging on about how hard done to you were. Seems slightly odd to me.

i followed you out and asked the stewards why an ejection not a stub out, rules and all that apparently, still as you say they did you a favour as far as the match goes!

by the way it's banned in enclosed spaces - deemed by the owner of that premises and the premises stated in the law - not public spaces - eg you can smoke in the street which is a public space

Thanks for your support. And in retrospect, I have certainly missed better second halves!

I'm a non-smoker but since I came back to the UK I have been shocked by these 'stupid' rules. When a society has so many 'can't do this / can't do that' rules for adult and yet NO rules for kids what has society become? An adult should be allowed to smoke if they are not harming others. If a society wishes adults to be responsible they should have fewer rules. It's logical.

Teach children and have rules and regulation for them to follow, and they should grow up not needing them when older. Who has the right to tell an adult they cannot smoke?

If on the other hand a person 'breaks the law' meaningfully then that is childish and punishable. When a grown man breaks the law then they should look at themselves and understand they are not setting a good example to youngsters.

For you to smoke in a public place is as selfish as you can get, if people wanted your passive smoke filling their lungs they would smoke themselves.

Rules are rules, and this time you got unlucky. Next time it might be someone else. You are in no position to complain though. ;)

And puppies are cute and spiders are baaaaad. And people generally get what they deserve. An the the world would be black and white if it wasn't full of so many pretty colours.

Smoking has been banned at football groiunds for ages.

Why did you attempt it? Why do you think you can do this?

I used to raise this/ask people at The Ricoh Arena who were smoking . You would have thought I was in the wrong by their bad attidude.

Its the same as people who deliberatley ignore the simple entrance/exit signs at the toilets barge/push past you although THEY are breaking the convention.

Look its a crap result all round today for everyone so lets not get too personal
