todays headlines
"no point in rushing for signings" and "jutkiewicz to fill kings boots"
translates
"dont expect anymore permanent signings" and "there wont be a franchise signing to replace king"
the sooner sisu p*ss off the better, lose "king, westwood and gunnarsson" from a team that finished as low as we did and then not really replace them (except murphy, who is ok but no westwood) then we will get relegated simples :mad::mad:

Because there is a queue of investors waiing to take over isnt there? On the point of westwood, whilst he was good he was vastly over rated by many city fans and i feel we have an equally as good replacement.

This is a non-story. We know we have limited funds, many times we have pointed out that SISU manipulate truth and mislead. Why post another topic about it. Equally Thorn could be implying that Jukiewicz has developed extremely well, which I would agree with.
Westwood was good but over-rated and I think Murphy will do great here. Gunnarson is nothing special... 1 good season then 2 of disappointment (before people start saying that I am slating a player who's left, I've thought little of him for the last 2 seasons) and King was good but can go fuck himself.
If anything the 2 headlines stories translate as: "No sports news to report" and therefore are page filling...
Between negative fuckwits like you and the Leicester fans I've seen on here, I'm starting to get pissed off with this forum!

Agreed with your comments, but it's a pity about the last sentence Sheepy. Namecalling does not make them any less worthy but it does you unfortunately. You, I and everyone else has a right to their opinion and stating such on a forum like SBT is ok. We don't have to agree with anyone else's opinion, likewise everyone else may not share your opinions but the name calling doesn't help. If you don't like what you read, be mature, just ignore it and move on to something else....I do.

Remember when we rushed lat time we needed to replace a key player? We signed Kyle and McKenzie! Let thorn do his job and as he said on CWR be patient! one thing that isn't helping is the Hoffs takeover/investment! Needs concluding quickly either way!

It wouldn't be an exageration in my opinion, to highlight kieran westwoods contributions, to the team in the time he was here, as the single most reason we are still a championship club.
The forewards have hardly been prolific, so westwood must take a lot of credit, surely.
he's being labled as "average, and nothing special" with the new keeper murphy, being acclaimed equally as good, thats even before he has stopped a shot, and by posters who have not even seen him in action, if murphy is as good as that, why isn't it "him" heading for Sunderland, instead of westwood, theres a line in a Certain song, which goes#You dont know what you've got til its gone# and i'm convinced the sentiment will also apply to the Technically Superb Keeper who has recently left us, I also forecast, that Westwood will continue onwards and upwards, and play for one of the top half of the table teams.
I bet if you asked Oggy, "who, is the most technically correct keeper you have ever worked with?" the name Westwood would be on his lips in a second.
All we have to do is "Watch this space" as they say, but certainly to use the Words, average and Westwood in the same breath, displays a serious lack of Judgement.

Agreed about Westwood, Tanktop. I realised about 2 years ago that he makes 1 outrageous goalsaving save each game that would have been in with any other 'keeper I've seen bar Oggy. There has been precisely 1 home game in that time that he hasn't done that, and he usually did it more than once! His reflexes in one-on-ones are incredible, they really are. I just think we've grown used to it and take it for granted. Bruce has been waxing lyrical about him, and with the other signings they've made I can see Sunderland pushing for the top 6 now. All helped by Mr. Black, of course-who I just heard getting glowing tributes from one of their French signings.

As far as not rushing-that's a fair sentiment, but what it actually means is we can no-way compete in the transfer market for players of our level. Which is not headline news, just simply the slowly dawning truth that SISU will NOT be matching last years budget as promised (now they've got the bulk of season ticket sales in). It leaves me dreading just what wasterels we'll be left with once we do find someone willing to accept the pittance we can afford to pay. Add the bigging up of Juke and the importance of Jeffers and Wilson this year by AT and the signals couldn't be much clearer. Expect Freddy and Clive to get plenty of matchtime again :facepalm::facepalm:

Sorry, sarcasm, my bad! I could have said that Thornton's only on a month-to-month at Northampton, and looking in good shape!

Sisu you are a joke and I wish you would just go as we couldn't be any worse off. Weve lost three first team players and several more have also left who were prior to injury first team or backup.
Ask yourselves is our team as strong as last year when we finished in the bottom half. Has our team got the depth of cover we had last year when we struggled with injuries.
Have we got a realistic chance of finishing higher than last year.
Finally can you honestly say that Sisu have shown any intention to improve our football club.

Im sick and tired of the bull and false promises so just get out and let us rebuild from the bottom if need be with an honest owner

Careful u will be branded a negative feckwit like me,
You are not allowed to moan or have an opinion on this forum we must be happy with our club and look forward to getting promotion with platt scoring 30 goals after we turn down a 25 million bid from Barcelona in the January window

Ha, yeah that's why I wrote my biggest ever post on another thread (Lukas one I think) about why I'm NOT negative. Just looking at what's going on, and feeling a bit miffed, and worried. It was bloody hard work at times last year, grinding through that winless run, with all the communication from the board that you'd get from a Stalinist state...I'm starting to remember the days when our big signings were Page and Hall on frees with a cold shiver.

As for my comment, its all well saying that, but you've taken a few lines and deliberately chosen to take them as negative. If your post was based on fact I wouldn't mind, but Thorn has said hes not rushing into getting a striker. That does not mean that we're not getting anyone else in... I'd rather he found a gem than spend £1m we can ill afford to waste on a Kyle. As for Westwood some stunning saves of course, but he also made a number of errors which cost us last season. Whether it was due to inexperience or he just didn't give a fuck only he will ever know I guess

Westwood is a very good goalkeeper but he has one big weakness - and that is shots from outside the box.

I've got some mates who support Forest and meet up with them each time we play each other. This year we met in the casino for the game @the Ricoh and while reading the program they came across a chart showing where we'd conceded all our goals from. Many of them were from outside the box and they said "jesus, we'd better shoot from long range against Westwood then!" No more than an hour later Westwood was picking the ball out of his net after a tame long-range effort that god knows how got past him.

If anyone remembers that goal they're probably still scratching their head as to how he let it in. Anyone who went to the Forest away game will have seen him concede another piss poor effort where he showed limper wrists than Graham Norton.

Inside the box he pulls off amazing reflex saves and fantastic one on one stops. On shots from outside the box he is piss poor.

To say Westwood is piss poor from outside the box is wrong, to say it is not as strong as his 1v1 or reflexes is probably correct. I do remember the goal vs Forest and all it was is a mistake. I have seen Westwood make some great saves from out the box, one that springs to mind is QPR away in the season just gone. I have also seen Westwood be beaten by spectacular shots from range from Jamie Ward and Barry Bannan.

All the facts, in the proverbial nutshell.
Andy thorn is not rushing out to sign a striker, for the simple reason, that no'one is rushing in to give him any money to pay for one.
Simple......INIT..

So if we're taking 'no rush to sign players' and 'Jutkiewicz can be the main man' and translating them into 'we're not signing anyone' what about where Thorn's telling the press that a striker is the main priority and that he's reassuring us that they're in negotiations - does that get ignored as lies because it's harder to translate into RELEGATION OH NO?

He's signed 2 players we needed more than any other position in the gk and the gk back up! He now has his eyes set on a striker and I am guessing a midfielder as well so let him do what he needs to do!

Your absolutely correct. I live in Scunny and have spoken to many Scunny fans. Not one of them is sad to see Murphy go. I only hope that Dunn is a better keeper!!!
