Thorn got it wrong today... (10 Viewers)

Why bring o'donvan on for Cody and why not strength the midfield up when bigi got sent off! Basic knowledge of the game and it wasnt used today.

And why o why is it we can't hold onto leads.

McDonald is not fit enough to play 90 minutes at full pelt. Don't have a problem with that decision, although had Platt been available I would have liked him to come on.

As for strengthening the midfield how do you suggest he did that? Unless he took ROD off, who'd only been on 10 minutes, there was no way of strengthening the midfield without taking off Juke which just isn't an option as we need him to hold it up and also defend set pieces.

U don't think the ref had anything to do with it? One of the worst I've seen at the ricoh, we don't know how fit cody is either an to be fair to burnley they played well after we scored...thought Murphy played well...but we should of finished way before the sending off

I think the game had changed when we scored, instead of giving us confidence it done completely the opposite. The players seemed to freeze up and we stopped doing all the good things that had got us into the lead.
I also agree that the sub was very strange. Should have bought on Cameron for Christie and send Keogh RB and bought Deeg's on for one of the midfielders. Obviously the reasoning for the Cody sub would have been fitness but he could have got through to the end of the game on the buzz of scoring his first goal.

McDonald went off because he'd picked up a knock. End of thread.

The game changed when McDonald went off. He was a threat all game and no need to go off. 3 points lost today.

No the game changed on 40 minutes when Burnley put Austin on and went from a 4231 to a 442. This stopped us from passing it around the back four and getting our passing going. First half we had 55% possession, at the end of the game we had 40%, and we only played with 10 men for 15 mins.

You lot for real? McDonald has been at the club for 2 months now. If he's not fit now then what's going? He could have took off bell and bought Deegan on and rod to move into bell position.

Ref got both decisions right today well the major ones anyway

He was injured

Yeah I'd have brought Deegan on for Thomas, but can see why he didn't want to bring on Cameron for Cyrus (disrupting the back line).

McDonald didn't look to me to be struggling when he was taken off. When the sending off happened its imaterial whether ROD had only been on a few minutes, Juke up front on his own & Deegs on in place of ROD was the way to go.

cyrus legs were gone 'could'nt cope with stanislas, ref diabolicle they got every advantage given he could possibly give, the midfield needed strengthening at the point cody went off as Burnley had bossed it up to the goal, regardless of Bigi ,they got awaay with a two footed lunge on the edge of the box with contact ,the goal was offside ,where was platt ,is he injurered.

If he'd have brought a midfielder on for a striker you'd all have called him too negative...

Very big mistake by Thorn today. Totally agree.

The balance of the game completely changed after we scored and it was all Burnley from then on with us completely on the back foot. I was screaming for a sub or two. There was only one team in it and we had to change things but didn't. Don't suppose it's Thorn's fault that ROD is a parks player, but he could have brought Deegan on for sure. We were being totally overrun and it needed fresh legs, a bit of steel and basically a tactical change to try and change the course of the game.

Find it absolutely unbelievable that Thorn only brought ROD on and we just let Burnley keep coming at us. For me it would have been Bell off for Deegan and I may have been inclined to bring Cameron on to to add a bit of physical presence.

Poor management today for sure.

Deegan and Cameran should have both come on for Christie and any of the midfielders once Bigi got sent off, Thorn had the power to do it, and didnt! Is he badly advised??? Or is it hime?? Either way it can not carry on through the season! As for Cody if he had a knock fair enough, but to me he was our best player today !!!

I get the feeling fans are starting to question Thorns ability at making the right decision regarding subs and tactics, evedent on CWR tonight!!!

Either way something needs to be done to stop us conceding late goal as it is borderline joke now.

It's youth. Thomas was asleep for one of the goals, for example.

Also what was the crack with Murphy and Hussey hoofing into the corners, I thought I was watching a rugby game where we were kicking for territory at that point.

That would have been admitting we were hanging on rather than retain a threat with 2 up. O'Donovan in theory has pace, but after no match action in a month he appears to have lost his match fitness-as illustrated when he tried to knock it around Easton and run on to it, and Easton left him for dust. We made numerous individual errors in their goals, including Wood and Keogh who have been superb. You can't legislate for that. No wonder the manager's pissed off.

No football knowledge is a wonderful thing. We could all see Burnley were the only team to be scoring the winning goal.

really mumford, are you in a high pressure job where every decision that you make can literally mean your job is in jeopardy. While I don't agree with every single decision Thorn has made, I know that even the best managers don't make the best decision every time.

as for conceding a lot after 90 minutes, that's something that you can't stop overnight, only through experience can our kids overcome that but it will take time.

How is it hindsight when I like others spotted and identified it during the game? :thinking about::confused:

I thought you couldn't make it today, Otis? What, did you grow some and tell your daughter who the boss is? ::p
