You're comparing apples with oranges. When BTA plays he is extremely central, virtually as a second striker at time. When Sakamoto plays he plays as a winger, as he is a winger. I do agree he could attack the box more but he is usually attacking the back post when EMC is getting the ball in.

I think people are getting a little bit carried away with the QPR result, and putting 2 and 2 together. We created way more on Saturday than we did against QPR, 4 xG Vs 1.27 xG. The issue is players only hitting the target 4 times despite having 28 shots.

EMC scores that header from Sakamoto's brilliant cross, we win that 3 or 4 nil.

BTA has had a good start to the season though.
Yes id just like to see them maybe invert a bit more often to really have more shots themselves

to be fair we had 15 shots blocked which never go down as on target

But yeah this is the point, you replay that game and we win it probably 8 times out of 10. And if one of the earlier chances had gone in, it would've eased the pressure, i think we would've won 3/4-1.

It would be great if we could find some way to get Simms a bit of confidence back. I don't really rate him but he's definitely capable of better than he's playing right now.

He's a very very good player tbh. Again, another one that seems to have gone up a notch. Think out of all the hyped Peterborough superstars we may have got the best one, top recruitment again.
He's coming along, he'll beat his man all ends up but his crossing is still very random. I think he often just doesn't look up because he's concentrating so hard on the ball and then he doesn't know where the support is and who's making a run for him so the ball get's wasted. He'd be better just playing for the corner sometimes or cutting inside and shooting himself more regularly.

BTA is a firecracker. Things happen when he plays or comes on. Just over 2 years ago, we had Sean McGuire on the bench.
He's frustrating at times, but if he started every game out of the 46 for the season, I wouldn't bet against a minimum of 10 goals.

Ripped them to shreds for 60 mins on saturday. Their full back would have been in the dressing room crying at HT, the problem is we didn't do it enough second half.

I wouldn‘t be in the dressing room crying at HT, 0-1 up 😝 Get a grip 😝

Interest stats really. BTA's xA per 90 is 0.07. couldn't fit him on the same page.

A lot of managers believe in stats and believing in their eyes, you need both amalgamated. I remember Viveash saying Hamer, didn’t have the best pass completion rate but his passing was brave. The ones that came off could really unlock a defence. While some players have great stats but only take the safest option.

You're never going to get 23 players in a squad that are all prem quality. He certainly shows flashes of that though (the touch for the goal at the weekend, the half way line goal etc).

When it comes to squad players, fans underestimate the importance of striking the balance between attitude vs quality. He just seems like a proper good egg, understands his role, doesn't rock the boat and always does a job when asked.

pass completion rate is the most basic stat going...

Mason-Clark has created the most chances from open play in the league so far. Not something I’d have thought tbh.
EMC has been like a new signing this season tbf!

As has JDS. Last season we were very reliant on attacking down our right flank. This season seems to be very left dominant with the odd cameo as the game goes on from the right.

Most games this season MVE has had a poor ish game, until the 50ish minute mark where he finally gets in to the game.

Maybe its a tactic. Attack down the left and then suddenly change and give them something else to think about?

EMC is probably fully fit for the first time since we signed him. He kept picking up knocks last season which seemed to hold him back. He's a hell of an asset when firing.
I really rate him, his technical ability is outstanding; defenders genuinely don't know what's coming next when he gets on the ball, and his ability to check back and deliver quality crosses is excellent.

Where I think he could take his game to the next level is in those moments when space opens up in behind. Instead of working with the ball wide with the aim of a cross (which he does brilliantly), imagine if he backed himself to go direct at that last defender and get past him. Given how unpredictable his movement already is, defenders would have no answer for that directness. If he added that killer instinct to drive at goal when the opportunity presents itself, I think we'd see his goal return shoot up and possibly have a PL player on our hands.

Seems to have cemented his place in the team aswell. It’s really hard to not like him-not the best player but squeeze’s every bit out of what he has got and leaves it all out on the pitch. Will hopefully get at least 10 or so goals this season and that will be a great contribution.

Let’s cut to the chase. The levels we’re seeing from BTA this season is immense. The guy is playing some of the best football of his career.

Also today rewarded with a call up to the Ghana squad.
When we signed him I thought he'd be a decent alternative option or squad player but that quite quickly changed to "why did we bother". His output this year has been brilliant and i'm happy to be proved wrong.

BTA could turn out to be a player we were all guilty of judging too soon. He’s been asked to play various roles in the team so can’t be easy adapting

I think he's benefited from the change in style this season.

Last year we were very slow in our build up play, so generally by the time the ball got forward the opposition defence was well set. In that situation you need some trickery to open up spaces and I don't think that's really his game.

This season we're getting the ball forward faster and he can use his pace and strength against retreating defenders. That's where he looks good.

Not all mate. It still amazes me how fans can just give up on our own players. Da Silva has received similar and look at his levels at the moment. Let’s hope we can add Simms to the list by the end of the season.

So pleased for BTA, he seems such a happy, likeable guy too.

Simms has done all he can.and what is asked..like literally only had 90 mins all season and made big impacts from bench notably vs Norwich and is getting into great positions and scored 2.

Asante a man possessed still..long may it continue ..stills runs into dead ends if I'm hyper critical.

I've always been a Bobby Thomas knocker. I still am when he miss places passes. Tbf to him , he won almost every header in their box and ours from set peaces on Saturday. Amazing what confidence does throughout this squad.

He was phenomenal on Saturday. It was a genuine joy to watch him.
