really liked watching BTA on the right. great performance. pace, power and clever decsion making. what i especially like is how Lampard has given him licence to get into the box in a central position, often ahead of Wright. This is different positionally to how we play with Tats who we will mostly only ever see him in the box at the far post. It's similar to how Chris Wilder used Hamer last season (albeit he was coming in from wide into central midfield, rather than from wide into the box), it makes it difficult for defenders to know who should be picking him up.
Am i right in thinking that Wright arriving late for the first was made more possible by BTA occupying the two central defenders by being central and the furthest forward?
I love Tats to bits and will be happy that he is back fit but, for now, I think we look better with BTA in the front line. And it is great we have two different styles and tactics fromt he right now depending on who plays there which will hopefully mean we can switch it matches if we need to roll the dice.
edit: also loved how lively he was for the 6th and 7th in terms of hunting for a lucky break. if the keeper saves or comes back on the post he was the only one (including QPR defenders) who was alive to it. surely there is a good 5-6 extra goals right there alone over a season if he keeps getting into those positions.
