BTA has always been a really solid option for me. He has good ability and is always willing to work hard. It’s not to be taken for granted.

Always considered him a hard working headless chicken. Was very noticeable on Saturday how many times he looked up,when he was in possession.

The interchange of position between him, Rudoni and Torp was noticeable on Saturday

We could use Saka to do the Allan role as well.

Thomas Asante was poor last night.
He's like a box of frogs when the ball is played into him. Sometimes it confuses the opposition but not often enough. Saka back Sat' if fit.

Asnte has earned his right to start Saturday in games that matter. Last night was just a sideshow, as proven by our team selection and other team selections up and down the country.

BTA last night ran around and put loads of effort in, but his touch at times was rubbish, he went down a few cul de sacs before giving away the ball cheaply and never seemed to beat his man. Defo not a natural wide player.

Everyone was shite if we're honest. He's earned his place by performing in the games that mattered.
He's still BTA, he'll do BTA things but you have to respect his improved output in this early part of the season.

That's fair and you have to admire the effort he puts in.

He has to play at the moment because we are threadbare (a) at RW with Tats injured and Rapha not yet ready to be a starter and (b) CF with neither Bassette nor (sadly) Simms worthy of a starting place.

I was beginning to think that BTA was improving until his horrendous performance last night. His reading of the game and situations within a game are usually poor . Unfortunately needs must currently with him starting on the right which is ok against the sides we have faced to date but is going to be a problem moving forwards. We do need a starting replacement on the side to compete with Saka. BTA is a bench option and nothing better realistically. Can't fault his effort but effort isn't enough .

I think he, as well as Saka, play much better with MVE playing.

He looked better once the others came on. He was poor prior to that but in his defence he just didn't have the options a lot of the time, Andrews wasn't near him and KKH wasn't as supportive in attack as MVE.

True. But if you had other fit options would you be starting him ?

Well depends how good they are.

Based on his performances against Derby and QPR he shouldn't be dropped.

You seem overly critical of him compared to other inconsistent performers in the team.

He should be praised based on how hes played so far.

I don't think it was as much MVE, but the likes of Rudoni, Torp and Wright offering more movement for him

And if you look at my comments after the QPR game you will see that what you've just stated is incorrect. Keep up Sparks !

Got to keep in mind we played with 8 changes and he was in a different role. He's had a good start to the season, I wouldn't look too deep into last night and judge him over the next 2-3 games to see if he can replicate Derby & QPR performances.
If so, Saka might not walk straight back in, which I never thought I'd say.

History tells us he won't keep producing the goals and assists he has in the last 2 league games, but if he does then he should keep his place.

Yep Rudoni consistently gave him a short pass option so he could move the ball on, which is what he needs. Beforehand he had nobody to pass to and kept losing it
