I wished him off at half time.
Got it wrong. Good work for 3rd & 5th.
Starts next week.

If that's a good game because he tapped home from on the goal line then our standards are truly in the bin.

It must of ruined your entire weekend when he scored.

Not really. I want all our players to do well. But people on here have deluded themselves into thinking he played well because his name ended up on the scoresheet.

Asante played well yesterday, but unbelievably some clown only gave him 4/10 on the players ratings thread???

It just unbelievable

Some clown . You really are not able to understand the simple fact that not everyone is allowed a different opinion to you without resorting to insults, are you? You thought Asante was wonderful. I thought he was a headless chicken who produced a couple of good moments. It isn't a difficult concept to understand.

Thought he was much better second half, did well for the 3rd and 5th as others have said. Also lots have overlooked his first time effort from outside the box just before Derby got their 3rd. Would’ve been some goal if that had gone in!

BTA is the type that doesn't let you down, he works for the team, looks like a good squad mate and has a positive attitude. Any successful team needs this type of player. He will roll his sleeves up and no matter what buy into the project and understand his role. BTA, Bidwell and Allen are all cut from the same cloth.

I never said he was wonderful, I said he played "well"
He scored 1 goal and had a hand in 2 others, if he did that every week I'd be more than happy. I've said before we need better players than Asante and Simms, but when a player plays well, I'll acknowledge it and give credit where its due.

How on earth that performance rated 4/10 is beyond me, that can only be bias.

How many points are you giving him against QPR? You may as well post it now for all its worth.

I said in the match thread he doesn’t have a football brain, harsh but some of his running with the ball into trouble is so frustrating. Saying that, he’s def’ an asset his energy and effort is boundless and would run another 90 mins for the team. You can’t buy that and Frank clearly sees him as a starter, maybe because of options and Simms currently but we need to get behind him as you can’t fault his commitment.
Yesterday was his most frustrating and same time best game for us .. BTA in a nutshell.

BTA divides opinion…. If you liked Sean Flynn, Paul Telfer, Julian Darby etc you will love BTA

If you like your players to be composed when it matters BTA won’t be for you.

That’s a pretty good analogy

Like Flynn and Telfer he will do whatever told his asked to and work it as well as he can if starting or off the bench. So for a manager like Lampard he’s ideal.

You need this type of player as a squad player, not starting many matches …

He's the Martin Hancock of the Championship.

(a bloke my brother used to play 5-a-side with)

I think we’d struggle to pick a better squad player for the money than BTA tbh. He’s not going to start every week but will contribute over the course of the season. The constant need for shiny new toys means that there is a never ending desire to toss away functional squad members to, in reality, bring in much of a muchness in a coat of shiny new paint.

He also deserves credit for winning the free kick which lead to the 1st, with some quick footwork.

He seems to be at his best when he does things instinctively, not so good when he has time to think.

I recall one of the managers in the 70’s (might have been Shankly?) saying that when he was scouting a player he was always looking to see what he did when he had time.

Absolutely, from memory his goals, certainly the better finishes, come when he doesn’t think about it and just lets it go.

There was a first time shot from well outside the area yesterday and from the stand it looked a pisser and unlucky not to be another screamer.

disclaimer - it was at the other end and I forgot my glasses. So it could well have been nearer the corner flag.
