I wished him off at half time.
Got it wrong. Good work for 3rd & 5th.
Starts next week.

If that's a good game because he tapped home from on the goal line then our standards are truly in the bin.

Not really. I want all our players to do well. But people on here have deluded themselves into thinking he played well because his name ended up on the scoresheet.

It just unbelievable

Some clown . You really are not able to understand the simple fact that people are allowed a different opinion to you without resorting to insults, are you? You thought Asante was wonderful. I thought he was a headless chicken who produced a couple of good moments. It isn't a difficult concept to understand.

Thought he was much better second half, did well for the 3rd and 5th as others have said. Also lots have overlooked his first time effort from outside the box just before Derby got their 3rd. Would’ve been some goal if that had gone in!

BTA is the type that doesn't let you down, he works for the team, looks like a good squad mate and has a positive attitude. Any successful team needs this type of player. He will roll his sleeves up and no matter what buy into the project and understand his role. BTA, Bidwell and Allen are all cut from the same cloth.

I never said he was wonderful, I said he played "well"
He scored 1 goal and had a hand in 2 others, if he did that every week I'd be more than happy. I've said before we need better players than Asante and Simms, but when a player plays well, I'll acknowledge it and give credit where its due.

How on earth that performance rated 4/10 is beyond me, that can only be bias.

How many points are you giving him against QPR? You may as well post it now for all its worth.

I said in the match thread he doesn’t have a football brain, harsh but some of his running with the ball into trouble is so frustrating. Saying that, he’s def’ an asset his energy and effort is boundless and would run another 90 mins for the team. You can’t buy that and Frank clearly sees him as a starter, maybe because of options and Simms currently but we need to get behind him as you can’t fault his commitment.
Yesterday was his most frustrating and same time best game for us .. BTA in a nutshell.

BTA divides opinion…. If you liked Sean Flynn, Paul Telfer, Julian Darby etc you will love BTA

If you like your players to be composed when it matters BTA won’t be for you.

That’s a pretty good analogy

Like Flynn and Telfer he will do whatever told his asked to and work it as well as he can if starting or off the bench. So for a manager like Lampard he’s ideal.

I think we’d struggle to pick a better squad player for the money than BTA tbh. He’s not going to start every week but will contribute over the course of the season. The constant need for shiny new toys means that there is a never ending desire to toss away functional squad members to, in reality, bring in much of a muchness in a coat of shiny new paint.

He seems to be at his best when he does things instinctively, not so good when he has time to think.

I recall one of the managers in the 70’s (might have been Shankly?) saying that when he was scouting a player he was always looking to see what he did when he had time.

Absolutely, from memory his goals, certainly the better finishes, come when he doesn’t think about it and just lets it go.

There was a first time shot from well outside the area yesterday and from the stand it looked a pisser and unlucky not to be another screamer.

disclaimer - it was at the other end and I forgot my glasses. So it could well have been nearer the corner flag.

Probably a 4, unless he improves his game, runs into better channels and is smarter on the ball. I'd love nothing more than to give him a higher rating. I'm not biased at all; I just don't rate him. I'd love for hom to change my opinion.

Slagging him off? I'm pointing out his obvious faults and saying that I don't think hes good enough. He plays and I support him. He does something good, I applaud him. He scores, I cheer. I'm not one of those who boos and constantly derides a player during a game. I just have an opinion on what I think his level of ability is. So climb down from your high horse.

The guy is more effective than Simms IMO. Gives 110% every game and was chasing the ball down in the 95th minute. Unless we have a better alternative he starts.

Granted, I didn't foresee or want to necessarily see him as a regular starter this season which remains the case and I do hope there will be a few more bodies through the door come the end of the month

But he has qualities I like and think he is a decent squad player, the only drawback is on an off day he tends to be totally anonymous in games! But he played well on Saturday and deserved a goal for his efforts

First half we couldn't get going down our right-side, BTA had one opening where he needed to square it but went the wrong way. Felt like we were really missing Saka

Credit where it is due though he got better as the game progressed, scored and kept the ball alive for the 5th. Would still want a winger though to stop him having to play there

You just don't know how a change or particular switch of personnel can affect things in a particular game but I agree that he seemed to have a good contribution in that position much like when we saw Simms out there against Preston back in the season before last, whether that means Saka's place is under threat though I doubt it.

Imagine being so miserable you’ve spent time going through his individual stats as ammunition to publicly slate one of our own players after 5-3 away win. Bizarre!
