A year ago yesterday 10/1/13 we beat Preston in the JPT Area Semi. What was to me the best and most exciting moment at the Ricoh.
Wonderful night, super atmosphere, which felt like start of something new. Great manager, great young squad, few points off play-offs and a game away from Wembley.

Oh how I was wrong...

So sad how things can change so quickly.
Team seems to take a back seat these days, never thought I would say that after 40 odd years.

Yeah. Bloody Robins blew it. Apart from that we've now got a better manager, a great young squad and a few points off play offs.

Promotion means higher wages so forget that while these people are with us. They have no interest in the team or fans. Those in charge are a cancer in our club which can be overcome with will and determination. We must never accept them.

When we played Sheffield United, I honestly felt we were going to go up and win the JPT.
Few days before the area final, just beaten one of the play off hopefuls, was brilliant.

There are some weird conspiracies doing the rounds, but the one that says SISU would deliberately scupper our promotion chances to avoid paying higher wages in the Championship is the most crazy of them all. Trust me, if we achieved promotion in this of all seasons, you wouldn't be able to get smug grin off Tim Fisher's face for months.

There are so few moments like this when it can go one of two ways. Don't forget robins blamed the council for not supporting the club. Don't know if that was his opinion or the referred opinion from joy and Tim but it was still his opinion

Mind you we have got that new machine at Walsgrave perhaps we could ask them to borrow it:D

Indeed, they'll just use the virtually same budget as intended in league one. The drop drove the salaries down, it's entirely a management decision to increase them, there is no obligation.

This time last year the same deluded section of our fans were wanking themselves into a frenzy about how we were going to keep mcgoldrick, how Robins was god,how we were going to Wembley and how we were going up via the playoffs.

Change Robins for Pressley and its a carbon copy.

Unfortunately some people never learn.

I am relieved now. I thought they would send out on loan the only player that is scoring goals whilst in a relegation battle from the Championship.

I guess they won't, but there's nothing wrong with a dose of optimism now and again is there? Surely one day we'll have out moment in the sun? If you don't believe that then what's the point?

Exactly.People seem to forget we are a division 3 team , with no money, still in a situation of 1 out 1 in on lower wages etc etc. IF we were to get promoted I think this team will really struggle in the championship.Sisu would have to invest money just to keep us up and with their track record
I couldn't see that happening.

Well quite, but that's because we were run by idiots at that point (in a footballing sense I mean). That doesn't mean to say they would prefer that we are not promoted. There would be no obligation to pay contracted players more than what they are currently on (aside from a promotion bonus which would be easily covered by a bumper play-off final pay day), and I am sure they would welcome the extra revenue (away followings alone would double). We can chuck all sorts of mud at them, but to suggest as the other poster did that they don't want promotion is bordering on insane in my opinion.

Whaaaa... People concentrating on football and enjoying a few games where we did well with a manager who was getting us to play well?! This... This can't be. Those bloody morons. Give them a few enemas, see those smiles wiped from their stupid faces.

Never mind wiping the smiles,it should be the egg they have on their faces every season.

They work themselves into a frenzy thinking all the team has to do is turn up and its game over. Some of them were even saying we could go to Wembley after beating Barnsley in the fa cup ffs.

You call me a plank but my feet are always firmly on the ground. If we go into the last half a dozen games sitting just outside the playoffs then maybe illjoin in with the we can do this threads. Some people even think this squad is as good as the 99/00 team, laughable.

We're Coventry City. Nothing good ever happens to us. Aren't we the only club in the 4 tiers that hasn't had a top 6 finish in 40 odd years?

Yup. But surely, if we can sort this shit-fest out, it won't be too long before we do? How typical would it be though, that we do it for the first time in 40 years this season, only to miss out because of the points deduction? Bound to happen.

One day Rodney, one day.

You say that and even I remember you last season saying you're enjoying it at the moment. Unbelievably, people enjoy their team doing well, no matter how little. Some people get carried away, it's not just our team that has those supporters.

The "Players having to pay 20% of their wages to fund the new stadium" was a doozy.

I was starting to enjoy it but there's a sting in the tail where city's concerned.
