He's a social democrat offering a less socialist version of the NHS. He is outpolling Trump in the key states he needs to win back, i.e. in the mid-West, Pennsylvania and even Texas is looking close. The Republicans call any Democrat a communist. All he is doing is offering policies that are very popular with a majority of the American people and if you'd seen any of his events with FOX and apparently conservative audiences he has done very well indeed.

All of this of course ignores an even more basic point. The Democrats got the ultimate centrist candidate that they wanted in 2016, and got annihilated in the electoral college. Their centrists have also overseen the Republicans gaining majorities in the Senate, of state governorships and of state legislatures. And who beat Clinton? A celebrity who bragged about molesting women but who also sounded like an economic populist.

Super Tuesday didn't back up the Bernie support much, although the swing towards Biden was a bit of a surprise. I think Bernie needs Warren to back down now, esp with Bloomberg gone.

Can still see the election turning into a US equivalent of the UK one.

It was pretty much the worst possible outcome for Bernie. The perfect storm of South Carolina, unlimited media goodwill for Biden, and a whole round of dropouts and endorsements immediately prior to the elections gave him a 20 point bump in most places. Pretty frightening really that so many flock to a guy who has done no campaigning, shows signs of dementia every week and whose actual policy record is abysmal, but it happened and it's now a tussle for the biggest plurality.

Warren has also cost Bernie a few states through her own hubris and needs to quit ASAP otherwise Biden will rack up the wins next week as well. Biden will get annihilated if he is the nominee and I stand by that.

I heard Biden on the radio today, he’s an absolutely terrible speaker if nothing else. Is this all just a Stop Bernie vote? Who are these people genuinely enthused by him?

Yes it is. Boomer vote is pretty considerable for him.
