...and it HAS TO STOP NOW!

When we go down the club needs a complete fresh start and a vision for the next ten years on how it's going to turn a football club around that has a city behind it that is the 9-10th biggest in the United Kingdom.

This club must have a vision that 2nd best is not good enough ever again. Players that come to the club give 100% and dont deceive the supporters.

When SISU go we go again and as the club badge states we rise again 'from the phoenix flames' and we go again such as the club did in the 1960's.

I state again the club needs a vision and a WINNING MENTALITY that is communicated to the supporters of this once great club. A vision and a buy in from all concerned.

We have to start again but a club this size will come again but we need to re-group.

Who ever buys the club next must have a vision that we all understand and buy into.

WE HAVE TO STOP UNDER ACHIEVING!

As a bloke said on the post match phone in, in 40 years we have only had 3 top 10 finishes in any division.

Truly shocking.

People can predict all they want about League One, but history tells us we will struggle just the same in League One as we have in the Championship.

This club has got a losing mentality. The fans deserve better.

What I don't understand is the optimism some have for when we get relegated, most seem to think we'll be up there, challenging at the better end of the league, without any serious investment in the squad I can't see anything apart from another relegation battle. This group of players have nothing about them. There is most definitively a losing mentality within the club but while you continue to employ the likes of Bell, Baker & Platt nothing will change.

Obviously I don't want us to go down, and I agree I think we may struggle down there next season, however I am trying to be optimistic about in.

Next season will not be good, but history suggests that clubs our size do bounce back from there. No club is too big to go down, but lots are too big to stay down.

Sisu will not be here forever (possibly gone this year hopefully) and when they do go we have to hope that someone comes in with a bit of ambition. I don't expect millions to be spent, just a chairman that doesn't sell our best players at the first opportunity.

With Charlton promoted, one of the Sheffield clubs getting second and hopefully the other getting the play offs, we will be the biggest clubs down there next year. That should make it easier to attract the best league 1 players with some modest investment.

I think I am right in thinking that the salary cap down there is 50% of turnover? If thats the case it should give us potentially one of the highest wage budgets in the division.

Actually ... it's just come to me ..... he did actually say top 9 finishes. I wondered why he said that and did think it rather odd to go for top 9 rather than top 6 or top 10. Looks like he has been selective with his stats.

Stop handing out 4 year deals might be a good start.

Think most would agree there's a decent crop of youngsters in the side.

Mixed in with some decent experienced pros (not ones looking for a final paycheque) and the results may come

But as has been said before, if Sisu are still in change they will continue to sell players. If Craine and Clingan are to be off anyway, that only really leaves Keogh and the talented kids that are worth anything and you can be bound sure that first decent offer that come in for the likes of Christie Clarke, Thomas and Bigi and they will be gone.

It was me who called the phone in and I was not selective with my stats. I deliberately chose top nine finishes to make a point. Ninth or tenth makes no difference to my point. Secondly I was speaking from a personal perspective and calculated it from 1973 which was my first match at HR. During that time Coventry have finished on a positive goal difference in six occasions, so the person who started this thread is right. Coventry City have to get rid of this losing mentality. It doesn't matter how you read the stats. They are always depressing!! My point was that it will be more of the same next season in division one so lets not kid ourselves that we can get out of that league. We've barely come close to a top six finish in the 39 years I have been going.

Just looking again at those stats. I forgot how dreadful we have been for the last five years. 17th, 21st, 17th, 19th and 18th. If we go down we can at least point to our excellent record against lower league sides.

Sisu aren't completely to blame here. When they brought us, I think they did with the right intentions, a lot of blame has to lie at the door of the previous players and management, Coleman spent a lot of money on some decent players but he didn't have a clue how to use them, some of the worst football i've watched since the mid 90's was played by him, Bothroyd was the same, spent what money he was given and couldn't get the players to play for him, i'm not surprised Sisu withdrawn their funding, I would have done the same in their position. Lets not forget the real reason we are in this position, living beyond our means in the prem and racking up debts not means our future is very bleak.

I really can't see how we're going to be any better off with another faceless organisation in charge or are we just going to keep changing owners until we get lucky?

Hence my original post. We have been fed shit over the years. We are going down but we need some vision from our new owners when SISU go on what the plan is. We'll buy into it if it's genuine but we the CCFC fans have had a real gutfull the last 30 odd years and deserve better. We'll never win the premiership or a cup but we do deserve a team that has a bit of self respect.

Players like baker and bell are an example of bad purchasing and miss management at this club of ours. It has to stop NOW.

We went down this year because we sold Westwood. Turner. Gunna etc... we refused to offer a proper contract for a proper striker in king.

It doesn't matter about anything else... that is why we are down. If anyone thinks this league is hard wait until league 1 hits us.. look what it did to Leeds for example. I can see us doing a Blackburn and waiting 25 years to hit the premier. As far as team car crashes go...we are m5 hawk meat

I did think your call was very good actually and was quite impressed with what you had to say.

The norm though is to talk in terms of top 6, top 10 or bottom 3 finishes, not top 9. Do understand you were making a very valid point though.

You just look at those stats going way back and it's pretty piss poor isn't it.

Our only hope is a takeover.

With us losing so much money Sisu's policy has consistently been to sell players and cash in when ever we can. Well, we sold pretty much all the silver last season (Turner, Juke etc.). All we have left worth anything at all now is Keogh and the talented kids such as Clarke, Christie, Bigi and Thomas.

This all points to probably all these players being sold. We know we cannot survive unless we sell players and these are pretty much the only ones worth anything.

Please tell me how it's a golden opportunity with our squad being stripped even more bare next season?

If you think we are going to have a golden opportunity to come back up with Platt, Bell, Deegan and McSheffrey then think again.

The reasoning behind most of this talk though is takeoveer. If we dont get a takeover and reinvestment from ground up then we will be mid table no doubt. I now think we will eventually find our level with the size of our fanbase and this revenue stream will decide in which park we can play.

But the size of our fanbase suggests we are a mid table championship team, so IF the club is run correctly we should have no problem in coming back up.

However we will be paying £1.2m rent, and don't get any income from food or car parks, or don't have the ability to make income from the stadium e.g, hire of space for meetings, functions, etc, the training ground is mortgaged as is next seasons season ticket sales, we have a wage bill of around £5-5.5m yet we can't break even. We'll lose £3-4m in premier league payments, tv rights, sponsorships, etc. and that's before the reduction in crowds, etc.

Next season in league one is gonna be a very very hard slog and a struggle.
