The problem isn't just Rob Gurney, it's the fact that Lampard grew up being media trained.

I miss the days when Clive would say something fairly innocuous to Mark Robins like "Safe to say, a tough one to take today?" and Robins would talk for 8 minutes straight on every aspect of the match we'd just seen.

Lampard never gives up more than he has to and it makes for some pretty cringey interviews.
