My name is British and only four letters long and I still get it mispronounced constantly.

There used to be a chain of newsagents called John Menzies, and when i was on holiday north of the border, i was confounded by the locals calling it "Ming-iss", which i took to mean that was the correct (or at least traditional) pronunciation. Who's to say who is right or wrong with language and dialect?

People who get to work well over an hour early but then are the pricks that make a point that "I haven't started yet" every time the phone rings.

Latt-eh

Nor is it Gee-arn-ee or Gee-oh-varney - it's Jann-ee and Jo-vann-ee (with a soft J - phonetics people would probably spell it Dz)

Put Gyökeres into Google translate as Hungarian and it sounds “yurkeresh”
Silent G is right.

The mistake most people make with Gyökeres is the ö. It is pronounced like you have written it, but most people will treat it like a normal O.

Sounds a bit like an o with an umlaut in German?

Yeah, pretty much bang on. Like the 'er' in 'her'. It's more or less the same in German, Swedish, and Hungarian.

The type of gimps that do a lot of networking and big themselves up but know absolutely nothing. It's like dealing with a 4 year old who knows absolutely nothing yet you look at their website or linked in and they are bragging about being an expert about everything.

My favourite thing is to just reel them in and then make them feel stupid.

There's actually a pretty good subreddit called something like 'linkedin lunatics' which shows these prats up.

It's one of the most toxic social media sites I reckon. No one is brave enough to say anything as their employer/potential employer are watching, so it is just an unchallenged narcissist and ego feeding frenzy.

When I was self employed I used to clean up taking customers off people who have been to "networking meetings" as they usually have some bellend who has read a book and then sells them the dream with big words but realistically knows fuck all.

It is shocking when I get some of their questions and you look at them and see that they claim to be experts in the field.

You meet a lot of these in tech, lots of buzzwords and nothing once you scratch the surface.

Bullshit baffles brains we used to call it.

Yep, IT-specific.

I'd much prefer somebody to say they don't know or it isn't their area and be honest about it than try and bullshit.

Not have somebody who claims to be an expert in IT support ask me the most basic of questions.

Surely it's just a case of switching off then back on. No need for IT experts, we all know this is all that is required!

How do you pronounce the full name then? My dad goes with ‘Djokovic’, which I should really call him out on, but then again I still haven’t landed on a consistent pronunciation for Hamer after three years, so I’m no better.

Yer-ker-es(h) is about as accurate as you can get if you tried to spell it out in English.

Clive pronounces it Yo-ker-es

The Apprentice in general. Watched the first one of the new series last night and i'm not sure i'll bother with it anymore. It's become a caricature of itself, and i fear for the world of business if this is any indication of what the best people are like. Luckily, i'm able to rationalise that it is only an entertainment programme on the telly, and not meant to be University Challenge, but Jeez-us they are an objectionable bunch this year.
The women all seem to think they are on Love Island if the amount of lip filler on show is anything to go by. Truly, truly revolting. What do women think people want to see???

It's so fake and setup, it would be alright if it was actual business people but it's purely for TV.

the first series was OK as you got more of a sense that it was people that actually wanted a business opportunity but as you say since then its people more concerned with being famous

Have any of the winners since the chap on the first series actually gone on to have decent non-media careers?

I didn't watch the series with Tom Skinner but do find him entertaining and some of the clips I've seen. A proper del boy.

Some of the posh ones faces when he was doing a deal on a coin toss.

I think a few of them have made a go of things - but there have been a few high-profile unfair dismissal claims against Alan Sugar. What do you expect if you employ serial narcissists???

Katie Hopkins was on one season I think, which shows you the calibre of people they have on. Although complaining about The Apprentice not rewarding business knowledge is like complaining about the refereeing in WWE.
