About to recommence a 3 shift pattern (week about) earlies, afternoons and night shift. Haven't done a night shift in about two years but have done them on and off for the best part of 33 years. Trying to adopt a 'normal' pattern for the weekend after coming off a night shift Friday morning is a ball ache. Hate them.

It might not be related but when I started to do night shifts in my late twenties that's when my hair started to thin out. I could only get 2/3 hours sleep each day.
There was a long discussion on the radio a while ago talking about possible links to certain health related issues and other potential side effects to working nights.

Night shifts.

Did a few nights this week and only just recovering now. Completely fucks your system up.

I'm sure there are some on this forum that regularly work night shifts and possibly but definitely not for me!

I did nights for a few weeks when I was 17 I think, 22.00 to 06.00 but you were allowed to knock off if you got your work done. Slept brilliantly tbh but struggled a bit at the weekend.

Did nights for 20 odd years , got used to it and it has a lot of benefits, managers don't tend to work shit hours so you're left alone, any appointments or car related things or banking are easy to arrange , having said that , been back on normal day shifts for a while and wouldn't want to go back

anybody told him. I have worked with a couple of people like that in the past, and in the end they have had to be told

tbf, he's usually fine, but he's put on a lot of weight in lockdown (haven't we all) and sunny day etc, as much as it annoys me, I'll let it slide.

Ah, 'the past' - I remember it well. Trouble is we're living in the present and any advice as such now would probably lead to instant dismissal with the 'offended' claiming all sorts of compensation running into the thousands.

Not really though. Most work contracts demand a certain level of personal hygiene.

You can broach it in a caring way anyway, somebody letting go of their personal hygiene might be a sign that they're not in a great place tbh.

I am another one on permanent nights we are supposed to finish at 215am but never do and it can be as late as 315am overtime is forced. By the time I get through security and walk to get my car that’s another 20 minutes. This morning got to bed at 4am and was up just before 8am. I do the school stuff every day until now and then go back to bed until midday.

The worst part is we do Friday into Saturday morning and that shift runs until everything is done so could be 5am.

Does nobody put their rubbish in bins these days? Pictures all over social media of parks and other public spaces left in a disgusting state. How hard is it to put rubbish in a bin or bag it up and take it home?

I was going to post something similar. The whole of Cov is like a tip. It doesn't matter where you are, city centre, suburbs, countryside. There's just crap everywhere. Walking the dog is like negotiating an obstacle course with the amount of broken glass everywhere. Mate of mine was landed with a hefty vets bill to remove a shard that got embedded in his dogs paw on Coundon wedge.

Worse when the weather's nice as well with disposable barbecues, plastic cups, empty bottles of booze being left in parks and open spaces. Probably sound like a right miserable fecker but it's just the sheer laziness and lack of respect that gets me.

Where are the wardens when it's hot and groups leave loads of litter and debris? They are after the "easy" targets like little old ladies feeding a bit of their sandwich to the birds.

Actually did this yesterday myself, thought what a fat idiot I'm becoming haha. Weighed myself and have hit a record 14st 9lb. Before lockdown last year I was motivated and going to the gym regularly and was around 13 and a half stone. Literally cannot wait till gyms reopen.

This time 2 years ago I was 12 and a half of pure muscle, hopefully a solid 3 months of serious hard work will bring big change before losing the last bit.

Yeah a few years ago got down to 12, 9. Mixture of age, and less exercise enthusiasm pushed the weight up a bit. Lockdown has well and truly done me though.

Not being able to win with cyclists. Overtake too close and they rightly get annoyed but today on a single track road I didn’t want to risk overtaking a cyclist and endangering him. I stayed well behind at a very slow speed patiently. After a while he got proper irate and was waving me past even though dangerous. No skin off my nose I just called him a c**t and carried on

Similar to me, though I do exercise a couple of times a week, my basic exercise just doesn't exist. Working from home especially over the winter has been awful for it, the food and ale don't help either.

Yeah, luckily I have a fairly active job, so it has helped a bit. Otherwise I could probably add a stone.

Fuck em - the pricks hop onto the path when they can’t be bothered to wait at lights like the rest of the road users.

Get this all the time, in car and truck. Not sure why they think my truck has a swift capability of getting past them. Don’t trust another driver in another car. Why would I trust some c*nt on a bike?

Midge/Gnat bites.

Was up the Memorial Park Monday night training and then sat in my garden last night with a few mates and in one of the two I have been bit to shit.

Itchy as hell.

On the BBC website there's an article about a YouTuber issuing an apology video for grooming underage boys. The article mentions he's also been previously accused. Why hasn't he been arrested?
