Am i looking forward to the Arsenal game?... Yes. Am i looking forward to the Burton game?... Yes. Am i looking forward to the Stevenage game?... Yes. Am i looking forward to the Shrewsbury game?... Yes.

I am a loyal Coventry City fan, by this i don't mean i turn up to all home and away matches and all cup and pre-season matches. By this i mean i have a season ticket and i go to what away, cup and pre season games i can.

This talk of supporters crawling out the woodwork is crap, we should be glad when more people turn out to support our team!! Its not how many games you go to its that you do what you can to show your support!

Now the word support, when i was young was interpreted as meaning buying shirts and tickets etc, to me nowadays it means following and showing support for whoever is on the pitch and whoever is in the dugout. We have had managers and players i have disliked before they came to Coventry but when they wear the Sky Blue i support them!!

The boo boys i can understand the disappointment and anger, i have seen countless poor performances and losses by the team, and have traveled a long way to witness them. However i will carry on doing so as they are my team, come rain or shine, win or lose, Premier league or conference national I LOVE THE MIGHTY SKY BLUES!!!

Lets stop booing them and show our support lets help them gain confidence lets cheer them on

Lets all sing together
Play up, Sky Blues
While we sing together
We will never lose
Tottenham or Chelsea
United or anyone
They shan't defeat us
We'll fight 'til the game is won!

I may not boo as described by many but I do on occasion vent my frustration at the players or manager when I see abject performances and that is normal!
If people want to express their anger by 'booing' then let them. If they shout rubbish then let them. How else can the supporters get their feelings known? It's not like you can have a one on one with the manager afterwards is it?
If they have performed badly they deserve to hear about it from the crowd.
This patronising has to stop. We as supporters are fully aware of how football is played and recognise when we see these abject performances.
We pay their wages with our support for them to entertain us and kick a ball around for fun.

We know when to expect better. When the good times roll they will get the cheers too.

OK lets try it in a different context, you buy your child a new bike for them to learn on, you have spent years and time nurturing them. They fall of the bike, they are aware they have not done as well as they might be able to, do you shout at them boo them or do you put an arm round them and fill them with encouragement and help build belief they can do better next time?

Or at your sons school football match he plays badly, you put your arm round him and support and help build belief. Contrary to popular belief footballer are able to work out when they have had a bad game and having thousands of people who are there to support them shout and booing isn't gonna help them, its gonna do the opposite any belief and confidence they had is gonna be shot!

I get pissed off and i grit my teeth i don't shout abuse or boo i sing support instead! i want to help them gain confidence cause that in turn will lead to the team winning and then possibly gaining promotion and in tow will come more fans singing their support!!

There are no rules and everyone is entitled to their opinions and feeling and to respond how they want, but maybe just bit your tongue and offer support dont just shoot them down!!

I get what your saying, and good examples. But they are PROFESSIONALS. They should be able to do the simple pass and receive a ball, and move and shoot

You just watch players who get a hard time and you can see their shoulders drop and their confidence shot and fans will keep up the same level of vitriol game after game after game.

yeah i aint keen on the booing during the game as i feel it can be a bit counter productive. however i did stay till the final whistle v west brom a few years ago in the cup just to let it all out

And the examples i used are a reflection from my point of view of what i invest in Coventry City, i invest a lot of time and money in them. Same as with children alot of time and money is spent on them, ok granted its not for one purpose, but then again a footballers job isnt 100% kicking the ball around on the pitch nowadays. As part of their pay it is expected that they dedicate their lifestyles to the best possible practices to suit their job.

Look I understand where you are coming from for sure but before you vent it try and use like minded examples.
Your quote above can be deconstructed as it's again not a fair example:

PS: Otis is correct. Booing contstantly during a game can only be negative and more likely to harm a players concentration than arouse his level of ability. When I hear boos around the ground at Half time or full time after another abject display I can't help felling I agree with them.

we pay to watch two teams play a game of football, how that money is dispersed is at the clubs discretion
my pay is funded by investors and the money we make from the jobs we do, but its still my manager that gets the joy of bollocking me

I think SOME users have a point where they say people who haven't seen a Cov game in 3 or 4 seasons will come out if we play a big premiership side. I think this is a minority though an I would bet 90% of the away support at Arsenal will be going to around at least 10 Cov games a season

What I don't like is when people moan that people hop on the bandwagon for away games and make the atmosphere rubbish, something that was said after the Yeovil game. The majority of these are probably season ticket holders and have as much right to be at the game as anyone else. Some people on here think they are superior because they follow home and away than those who just follow at home and the odd away game or those that can only make a certain amount of games a season

Coventry City Football Club is a business at the end of the day and not unlike Barclays or County Councils or Blockbusters or Ann Summers. we are customers we just buy in 10,000+ at a time and witness them doing the most public side of their job in an arena where we can instantly respond to what we see.

Fully agreed with you, the thing is though, on a Saturday, people go there to escape real life. Personally, when I haven't been to a game for a while, I get withdrawal symptoms lol, and when I've been at a game on a Saturday and seen a good performance, it makes my week go better. I don't know about anyone else, but I sulk for 6 and a half days after a defeat, until the next Saturday when I look forward to a win :thinking about:

Don't get me wrong I understand what you're saying but you can go to every ground up and down the land and hear supporters getting pissed off when the team plays shit. Its part of football and it doesn't stop all these teams doing a bloody sight better than our bunch of no hopers. Its another poor excuse as to why we keep failing," please dont shout at them or they'll get upset and lose confidence". I know people (including myself) keep saying this team should be top 6 on paper, but I really need to this piece paper now as 4 games no wins in league 1 is total crap.
