Them against us. (2 Viewers)

Do you honestly fancy us against Leicester!?
Going to be very tough.
Usual lines of "They're shit/in shit form/look at where we are in the table" will be trotted out.
Like against Ipswich
Like against Charlton
Like against Birmingham.

They will be licking their lips about playing us in a couple of weeks.
I fancy us against Leicester.

To flip the coin somewhat, I never, ever understood people saying Charlton would be easy and that Birmingham would be easy

If we bring players in, I totally fancy us against Leicester. If not, as long as the players are all rested, I still think we have a great chance of beating them.

You can laugh all you like, there is nothing more than teams in this division would love to see more than Lampard not get promoted, his appointment was mocked, whenever we lose a game he is the first thing opposition clubs and supporters seek to dig out - He is the obsession of the rest of the division cause he was an elite level footballer and I think certain sides and managers would love to stick the boot in on him more than they would the other sides

No one in this league puts stopping Coventry above their own ambitions.
Chris Davies wants to get results, get up the table and keep his job.
He's not going to ask his players to down tools in games to get one over onLampaed FFS

We will see, come back to me in May and we will judge how many teams we play in the run in, who would usually be on the beach have upped their performance levels for games against us

I would guess most managers at this level would love to get one over Frank as he has been afforded breaks and opportunities they wouldn't have done owing to his level as an elite player

Everyone raises their game against the league leaders, it’s nothing to do with Lampard. If I play chess against someone much higher rated, I’ll prepare more thoroughly, focus more during the game etc. This is no different, because it’s a chance to prove yourself.

You do things which if you actually did all the time would have you higher up the table.

For me, we are the leagues pantomime villain - For years it was Leeds, as no one really likes Leeds and the rest of the division poked fun at them when they went through that period of choking promotion year after year

I feel that is now us, owing to who our manager is as he is let face it a bigger name than the division itself

I stand by what I said, I think the majority of the division want to see Ipswich and Boro in the Top 2 and I expect that to play a part in the run in

There's a difference between upping your game against the league leaders, and downing tools when playing their rivals to the detriment of your own ambitions, which is what you're suggesting

Boro lost 3 in a row recently, your theory isn’t bearing out. Oxford also tied with Ipswich ‘on aggregate’.

As a fan, and looking at many other fans, I get it. For no real reason other than jelousy, we like seeing Roony fail, or Villa, or Leicester, or the big money of Blues and Disney FC etc.

But as competitive professionals, I cannot see other teams/managers deliberately conceeding just to fk Lampard over.

This League cannot stand Lampard and would take great pleasure in him failing to go up

We have to be prepared for teams who will have nothing to play for getting up for games against us like it's a cup final, Blues for example I have full confidence when they will play Boro and Ipswich will bend over and spread their cheeks for them despite playing like their lives depended on it yesterday
Not if they have a chance of making the play-offs. They are in the same boat as Middlesborough right down to Leicester/Southampton. This league needs to have at least one non-parachute club go up. Surely we can hold this together?

This is only going to end up one way unfortunately. The club would be very foolish to go down this road.

That refs don’t give us anything?

That’s already happened!

What I meant is that the team have the mentality that refs won’t give us anything and they’ll have to win regardless of this.

To put it out of their minds, not use it as an excuse but as a motivation.

Need to start being hard to beat first, stop sending every twat forward to cross the ball with no fucker in the box.Stop letting in shit goals and tell defender's to fucking defend.
Or crossing to strikers who rarely make the right runs to take advantage of them.
The amount of times everyone lumbers towards the back stick and no one gambles on the all too often poorer cross towards the front post.

You know, sometimes I get the feeling that every professional football team that we play against, wants to beat us for some reason.

The absolute bastards, eh.

I guess we'll just have play better than them and beat them that way, assuming they're not prepared to just roll over because we're Coventry City. 😁

If teams up their game against us it's because we are top of the league, and they know they have have to.

Teams are, that’s the best bham and Ipswich have played all season, we should expect the same every game from now on, we need to find a way to do the same, and not sure we can blame the squad depth, we’ve still got results with worse teams than what started yesterday, it’s just stupid mistakes, da silvas red card ( 2 points dropped ) Preston ( conceding to 10 men) 2 points, Charlton goal was shocking ( 2 more ) and at least a point yesterday without awful defending, that’s 7 points, huge gap

Thought Birmingham were crap, the others scrapped yes. If Simms had of squared to Rudoni yesterday at 1-1 it would of been game over

You think blues, 7 points off the play offs, will sacrifice 6 points because they don't want us to go up?

That might be your most unhinged post yet.
I thought he was suggesting the other way round, and it would be Ipswich and Boro will part their cheeks and rely getting to or in the PO's.😢🤔
