Bowyer also thought they were the better side in the 2nd half so if he sees that he will never see this as a dangerous tackle, just a foul. The ref had no option and a red was coming for them one way or another.

If someone gave me the option of a free ST at Brum or Preston, I'd ask for death being slow dropped in acid..Horrible clubs, horrible cynical players with tactics to match semi pro football. Both in part have had or have rat bastard managers, who only deserve that type of style.

Not impressed with Preston? They were deserving of three points both this season and last season and played the ball around us very well. I would certainly want some of there players like Johnson and Rijs in our squad. Birmingham are just a rough side who play to their strengths, thankful they are not my team.

Embarrassing from the Blues fans chanting "f*ck the efl' after any decision which rightfully went against them. Going on like there's some kind of collusion against them. Just accept you're shit lads.

Lee Bowyer - a poor mans Kevin Nolan. The blokes a moron. Anyway good news we only have to watch Birmingham twice a season. Imagine having to watch them every week.

Not impressed with Preston never have been, never really liked the managers attitude either. Westley, Davis, Neil and Grayson are not my idea of good managers, the fact they always beat us no matter how they play is another thing I don't like about them. But it's my opinion on them that's all.

but can you imagine having to pay good money to watch that awful fucking shit footy every week??
even at our lowest point, never did we resort to that crap, hoof it up to Deeney and try and win a free kick or a throw.
and how fucking boring is using a long throw every time, when it never looked like being a good option.

so glad we play good attacking footy, and how quick were our counter attacks, like lightning with 4/5 men going all together.
long live King Robins, PUSB

(Actually I completely agree, and JCS was used sparingly in that sort of role...)

It’s a red all day long. I’m struggling to understand how anyone thinks that’s not a red. Full on hack and no intention of getting the ball. It’s a good job Maatsen was ok. Imagine if he got badly hurt?

Thought it was cheap at the time. But looking back at it, definite red. Bowyer was enough of a c**t as a player, hasn’t grown out of it.

Thought at time it was a red (sky blue tinted specs) as it was a lunge from behind. Thought ref would only give yellow and pleasantly surprised when he held up the red. On replay I still think a red…player was not in control and could have caused serious injury.

Same here. I commented on the match thread saying that wasn't a read but looking at it back he tried to kick maatsen with his studs and it was relatively high too. Wasn't a case of just tripping

and if you look carefully both his feet were off the ground as he lunged to tackle/trip or whatever you call it! he was not in control

Just been on the Fulham forum and they're screaming about how it wasn't a red and we're a scummy club. They really don't like us, do they ?

Same arrogance as Bournemouth last season. They’re just angry that unlike everyone else, we didn’t roll over and socked it to them.

I'm not going to comment about the replays I've seen, just what I saw in real time.

From Block 25, Dabo against Cardiff looked a shocker. Definite straight red.

From Block 25, Woods against Maatsen looked like a cynical trip. Yellow.

Glad the ref was closer than me.

Not sure anyone was disputing that. It's the quality of football. Would be dreadful to watch that team every week

None of the ones I speak to actually like it but it’s not them that pick the manager

Friend of mine who’s a referee was of the opinion it was a yellow. I kind of get it looking through the professional foul lens, but regardless those kind of tackles need to be red cards.

Worst tackle I ever had on me was exactly the same, except the bloke landed on my achilles (ironically my teammate was a Blues fan and went ballistic with the player) . The key bit for me was that he didn't clip him from the side, or tap him on his heel, he lunged at him and was out of control. He had no idea which part of him he was going to catch and therefore it was reckless and rightly a red.

So the neutral referee got it right and the biased manager got it wrong.

A three match ban I thought they added another for trivial appeals?

I'm bewildered at the arguments of it not being a red?

It's not just your normal "take one for the team". It's from behind with intent to potentially hurt the player and not go for the ball at all...??

If it was a little slide to just nip his ankle to trip him then red might’ve been harsh. But he’s pretty much swiped his studs across his calf. That’s plain old malicious intent.

Birmingham fans with the typical ‘EFL have it in for us’ bullshit.

Still cringing at the “Fuck the EFL” chant from them. A red card and a few dodgy refereeing decisions this season and they think the EFL is conspiring against them. Jesus Christ.

A few other teams (us being one) would like a word…
