Is it being built? There seemed to be some work going near the rail line in the open space.

Have I missed something?

Surely it will be a bit of a "white elephant" seeing as SISU are building us a new ground and we'll be moving again in 3 or 4 years?

Saw a press conference a few months ago on Mids Today that some firm were building stations, one was at the Ricoh. Nothing to do with Byng I think, looks like he's missed out.

work is meant to start in the autumn, once work starts it wont take long at all, all the delays have been down to poor communication between the strategic rail authority and knuckle, i happened to see a document looking at the feasability of the rail line station being built, and they asked the question, how much will it cost to decontaminate the old gaswork site? and this was two years after the ricoh was built! lol theres also 27 disused mine shafts along the line that health and safety worry about, will be great for the ricoh if its built, i can imagine a few people will meet in town have few beers and hop on the train

The station could be the reason why london wasps are looking at the RICOH for their matches. This station will make ACL/RICOH worth more, Joy could have missed the boat(train).

I believe the delay has always been by Network Rail nothing to do with the club. But yes the work has started on it.

Hopefully there'll be matchday services from west coast main line to the north tamworth/Nuneaton etc and Coventry line from the south. It'll be huge boost for all parties.

Buckingham Group will build stations at Ricoh Arena and Bermuda Park once NUCKLE rail link work starts

Ricoh Arena rail station site
The winner of the £6million contract to build two new stations on the new rail link between Coventry and Nuneaton has been announced.

Buckingham Group Contracting Ltd have been tasked with building the stations at the Ricoh Arena and Bermuda Park once work on the NUCKLE line - which will eventually go on to Kenilworth and Leamington - gets underway later this year.

Phase one will see Buckingham Group, which led the upgrade scheme at Stratford Parkway for Warwickshire County Council, also extending the platforms at Bedworth train station.

The entire £13.6million scheme for the ten-mile stretch of railway is being funded by grants from the Department for Transport and the European Regional Development Fund, as well as Coventry City Council, Warwickshire County Council and Centro.

Coun Rachel Lancaster, the city council’s cabinet member for public services, said: “With the contractors in place and the design work underway, we can now finally look forward to the beginning of this project.

''This is fantastic news for the region and I’m delighted that work will soon begin on building the two new stations and lengthening the platforms at Bedworth.

''This will mean local people will benefit hugely from much-needed new transportation links between Coventry and Nuneaton.”

“NUCKLE has been a long time in the planning and there has been a great deal of work behind the scenes to get us to this point, but we can now work closely with the contractors to ensure the project delivers everything we initially set out to achieve.”

Buckingham Group will be on site at the end of August prior to construction starting in September, with the project expected to be complete in time for May 2015. For more details visit www.warwickshire.gov.uk/nuckle

The station will be a massive boost to the Ricoh and the surrounding areas. Kinda does away with "its difficult to get to" line.

It will enable easier access and will allow anyone to hop 2 a few boozers in Coventry city centre then on the train 4 a game.
