They have held loads of the 'floor' events there in the past - the ranking events that take place without crowds

They also held a few major events there during lockdown

Really minor one, but I really liked the concept someone came up with of having the 'Coventry City Football Club' sign from Highfield Road in the ground

Seen some mock-ups and made a couple myself in the past. Now is the time to really stamp our identity all over the place.

Could get some decent boxing events in there too I'd imagine.

They obviously can’t get the sham of a train service sorted, so I would like to see a Monorail from Cov Station to the ground.

Not a monorail but we should have had light rail on tha route by now if again central govt could manage to keep funding promises on public transport for five seconds and not keep cancelling everything g.

absolute NO to this. I don't want some little scrote lobbing beer over me because we've scored a 90th minute winner against Burton Albion in the Carabao cup - and doing 'forced limbs'.

Look at european games after a goal. It's full of beers being lobbed in the air.. hard no

If fans weren't such bellends I'd be all for drinking in the stands, but the first person who thinks it's cool to chuck dark fruits Strongbow in the air within a 50 yard radius of me, just for a few likes on YouTube is getting sparked out!

That's why every fans forum i ask @Sky Blue Pete to question Doug on updates for conversations on the trains. It's not just important for the match days but also the stadium in general. I've always driven to the arena but last game i braved stopping at my mums and trying the train from Kenilworth, personally for me it was fine, Kenilworth to the arena in 15 mins, but when we got to Cov they couldn't even fit all the people waiting on the platform on the train ffs, its not good enough. I just thought what are those poor fuckers going to do exactly? It needs more trains and more carriages. Once the service is better there should be upgrades at the Arena station itself too, at least some decent shelter, toilets and a coffee shop or something.

Could Kenilworth station for example take longer trains? It just all looks a little bit cheap considering that it's on the main route south. I grew up just around the corner and the old station was actually pretty lush.

It looked long enough, AI tells me this... The modern Kenilworth railway station (reopened in 2018) features platforms designed to accommodate two-car or four-car trains. So yes.

We seem to have this conversation every year and as we are going further up the pyramid the urgency becomes more apparent.

History - When they built the Ricoh, as it was back in the day, the train line next to the stadium was used more for freight and the construction of the 'station' at the Arena was a token gesture. The line is controlled by network rail and they have constantly said that the line from Coventry station has to cross over the Coventry to Birmingham lines in both directions and as this line is the busiest in Europe it is impossible to add additional services to the timetable. It was made even more difficult when they reconstructed Kenilworth Station as this then extended the line that was previously Coventry to Nuneaton, to Leamingham Spa to Nuneaton calling at Coventry because this service can be used throughout the week and not only on match days. Also, the longer carriages they used to use cannot be used on the newer service.

I have been looking at the situation for many years and still cannot find a solution. The new tram system in the city could be upgraded and extended to the Arena, and/or they could use a tram/light rail system that can join the train line tracks further down the rail but that would cost millions and as football may be lucrative in the short term are the services worth the investment in the long term?

Even the rail bosses say they best way is to have shuttle buses from the main Coventry station to the Arena, because they cannot see another way.

Do we still have the compulsary purchase order (or what ever it was) on the industrial estate opposite? That was all ment to be converted to leisure facilitys and hotels owned by the club

The VLR would be brilliant if it gets built. Could have a service every 2 or 3 minutes, 24/7. It's already going to the university I believe, it's just about getting a full city loop to encompass the CBS. World first and would be massive for the whole city and the club. Hope Doug lobbies hard for the northern section to the CBS, we have a loud voice now as a Premier League Football Club

I've been to more European games than English in the last 5-10 years. Never once had beer thrown over me (and i generally go in the utlra's ends where you may expect that kind of rowdiness)

I did see the Livorno ultras launching their empty glasses (plastic) out over the barriers and on to the cinder track surrounding the pitch back in February, but thats about it.

I do though agree its something that can't really be adopted in English grounds unfortunately, too many people just unfortunately incapable of not being twats.

Wagner shines up his head and swallows a few pork swords and suddenly Birmingham gets promised a whole new railway line. Meanwhile Coventry and Warwickshire can't even get slight upgrades to existing lines?

Someone managed to smuggle a beer into the stands at the EFL Trophy final, threw it when Thomas scored and it landed on me. I've been against the idea of beer in the stands ever since; I think this is a universal EPL and EFL rule anyway rather than a club decision?

Sorry, but if there's even a 1% chance in a given game that I'm getting soaked in someone else's backwash-filled Carling, I'm all for banning alcohol in the stands.
