IMO 18 of our current squad are currently good enough to be in the championship, others will definately be after a bit more experience.

I wanted to do this in my own head to see if I am wrong in thinking AT is not actually doing that bad considering the situation he has been put in.

My logic was go through the squad rate who I actually think would make it in a championship side that should avoid relegation. Then see how many games those players have played on average

Which is 18 matches on average

Now I know this is totally subjective as others will look at the above and feel that some players are not good enough and others who I said are not actually are.

However I wanted to see in my opinion.

Based on this it is my view that Thorn has had 18 players at his disposal who should be good enough to stay in the championship and of those 18 they have played an average of 18 matches.

To me only having 18 players that are currently good enough at this level is not enough. Having them only playing an average of 18 matches is also bad luck

The average 18 games is affected by each new player introduced - that's not bad luck. Not necessarily good or bad management either, but luck without a serious injury list is not a factor

Whether or not they are good enough to play in the Championship is based even in your opinion, on a snapshot in time being now. At the start ofthe seasona nd without experience some of those you have were definitely not ready.

It is not about having 11 players able to play at this level. What you need to harness that is a bit of extra quality like some of the West Ham squad or even for example a MArlon King. Being adequete with no x-factor is not enough

I would dispute many of those you say are ok, I think its considerably less based on the performances we have witnessed, however as you say its your opinion which is fair enough

Good enough is a very subjective way of looking at things and doesnt neccessarily add up to an adequate squad.

To give an examples - Carrick, Ji Sung Park and Evans are all "Good Enough" for United but if their whole first team was of this standard they would be midtable.

We have plenty of players of a championship standard but lack any real quality to push us on - a few key players of quality like Marlon, Westwood and Turner would have made all the difference.

Deegan, Bell, Sheff, Platt- no championship club would touch them ! (Leeds didnt go anywhere near Sheff when they got out of League One).

Cody 2 goal mcdonald good enough for this level ?

Murphy wont be going to a championship club, nor will Baker

Bigi not ready

etc etc

We are a League One squad in the wrong division. When we sell in the summer, we could well be a league 2 squad in the wrong division !!

SISU OUT !!

so, so far people think the squad is not good enough for the championship. Yet others say Thorn is doing a bad job and should have kept this team up.
I think half of the squad is good enough to stay up but that that is not enough over a season. We needed another 10 players of that standard and we would have survived.

Bloody hell you have took off the rose tinted glasess and smashed them into the oblivion.

I obviously disagree with some of your ratings however you seem to make the same point.

With that bunch then AT was never really going to get them mid table in the championship

Cody upper League One and ROD League 2 ?

ROD is proven at League One and Cody at League 2, so I would swap them around

Certianly not far off with most of it though !

I always fall out with people about midfielders, there are different jobs to be domne in midfield and I think Connor Thomas could well become a star attacking central midfielder, and Biggi may become a star midfield play maker.

There are some top caliber players in that squad (Vorm, Sinclair, Sigurdsson, Graham. Also Dyer - who I assume is injured). It's the few high quality players that make the big difference.
