I never thought the day would come when I’d choose to watch Cov Rugby at The Butts on the same day CCFC were playing at home. That day came yesterday and I have absolutely no regrets.

The game had everything you want to see from a sporting spectacle and I’ve never felt so proud of my home city since we lifted the cup in 87.

A rip-roaring hard fought game with passion, commitment and desire from both sides, the lead swung to and fro until a thunderous finish from Cov. It was a breathtaking performance against the odds and against a fully professional Ealing outfit. The team spirit of Cov made me immensely proud and that played a huge part in inflicting Ealing’s first loss of the season.

The excitement throughout the game is something that I’ve not felt when watching the football for a very, very long time. It’s exactly what I want do get out of a sporting match day experience.

Furthermore, it is an absolute pleasure to be able to buy a pint at pub prices, and be able to freely walk around the stadium with it and mix and talk with opposing fans. No police, no brainless stewards that have no ability to think or are capable of making decisions and no rip-off catering, everything that spoils match day experience at football games.

I can only imagine the game against Walsall was a dour, turgid goal-less bore draw. I can imagine myself sitting there feeling utterly dejected with what I would be seeing. Contrast that to yesterday’s rubgy when I’ve never felt so enthusiastic or been so animated.

Until there are signs that the quality of football and entertainment value improve with CCFC, then its Cov Rugby from me now on. At £15 a pop, there’s no comparison.

We don’t have a fixture next Saturday and I would seriously recommend anyone at a loose end to get themselves down to The Butts next Saturday when Cov Rugby host high flying Fylde.

The Butts is always a good afternoon out.

I decided to spend my money at the Blaze last night. Amazing game, great atmosphere, no idiot fans, able to sit and have a drink, and got to see a team proud to represent Coventry.

Like Cov the Blaze also beat the top of the table team yesterday.

Thanks for that, most kind. I support Steven Pressley & CCFC and will continue to do so through thick and thin.

Good luck to all Coventry sports teams even if I don't follow those particular sports.

However I won't be supporting WASPS wherever they play or are based. PUSB!

I personally would never go and watch rugby either buy the comment above is a bit to far rfc, just because a fan is on a downer with the Sky Blues and has tried something new tbf it sounded like he enjoyed himself it really does not make him as you say pathetic, bet in 4 years or less whith sisu still fucking around saying there building a new ground and people like you believing them we will be at the butts playing our footy on a Sunday. Cov Rugby and the BPA have everything I'm looking for at the moment for my live sport fix on a Saturday. I enjoy a couple of pubs in the surrounds, have a bite to eat. Finish up for one at the Broomfield in site of the ground where there is a bit of anticipation. Pay a reasonable £15 on the gate, My Under 16 daughters can attend for free if they choose to. Then I can take a decent seat roughly on the halfway line with a great view of what has been regularly good quality rugby from the home and away teams with good banter { Although yesterday was more than that, it was positively rocking }. If I fancy another cheeky beer at half time I can and after the match the players show a genuine appreciation for your support. We park for free and easily get away from the area afterwards.....great day !

Yesterday we had a choice of watching City or travelling 100 miles to a music gig. Even a couple of years ago there would not have been a choice to make, home games took priority over anything. Not any more, even though we have season tickets. Sounds like we made the right choice too.

I know what you're saying but the OP was to state how much not going to watch the city was beneficial. I think it's a fair point. It's £7 less for a match ticket that is and apparently it's a better atmosphere and great time.

Now I've never been or doubt to go purely for my hate of rugby as I'm a massive football man but I fully understand the post and convinces me to go in a way. I went the Ricoh yesterday and let's be fair it was bloody awful.

So yes it's a ccfc forum but I think it's relevant to our situation and our city. Yesterday was soulless and poor quality and I paid £22 for the pleasure. I wouldn't call this value and the trouble is It doesn't convince me to go again. I will as I love our team with all my heart but instead of going to the next game I may wait and see on results and/or style of play. Call me wrong but that's how I see it. Basically in short yesterday didn't give me a reason to come back.

Can't go to either from deepest Scotland but Cov Rugby's results have perked me up no end. Long may the winning run continue and bring them bigger crowds to think about expanding to a full time professional set-up themselves, maybe expand the Butts too. I'm home for a few weeks around Christmas/New Year, might give the rugby a go.

Undoubtedly a part of it-the words Coventry and success don't often go in the same sentence so any sign of it should be supported I think. Cov Blaze come up to my part of Scotland a few times a year and I try to get along to those games if I can (they play 3 games in 3 days so always a chance of seeing at least one win!).

I think its more the sense of community and seeing players that actually care.

Just like in football, if you see the players care and trying their best, a loss is always much more palatable.
