I'd stick with him even if we lost all 4. We will really miss McSheffrey as he's superb in the hole, but I said 4 weeks ago that I had a feeling we were gonna stick 5 past Scun thorpe, and as I think they'll crack (even after recent good results) it could still happen! Before Thorn, we were going down. I think a lot of people have almost forgotten quite how abject we were.
We've already averted our bad end-of-season run: this time last season we'd already gone 5 without a win.
Thorn inspires faith. (and Hymms/prayers etc, see other threads!) That's for a very tangiable reason: he clearly has a gameplan and very astute managerial/motivational skills. It's not something you can teach: it's entirely natural, he's just being himself and backing his judgement. He's a positive, infectious, charismatic character who so happens to know football inside-out.
We hear him speak, and think "yeah, that's hit the nail bang on the head". He does it in every interview. Look at the players around him and what they say in interviews-they think the same thing. As Gouldy says, he's one of the shrewdest football minds about. There's nothing lucky about anything Thorns achieved: he's come into a nightmare situation and turned water into wine. He knows exactly what he's doing, and I don't need to see any more. These players look twice, maybe three times as good as they did before-and most are getting better each time they play. That's the Thorn effect.
