Fifteen dead and 18 injured as tram smashes into building in Portugal

The tragedy occurred after one of the cables came loose along the railway's route, causing it to lose control and career down a steep hill before colliding with a building.

Was only on this a few weeks ago. It didn't seem very safe at all.

Those things scare the shit out of me.

I went on one in Pittsburgh 2 years ago, and it looked like it was falling apart. My colleagues, who were local, were laughing and taking the piss. Then, half way up it started sliding backwards and the safety cable cut in and we stopped abruptly. It felt like we were about to slide at full speed to our deaths.

I'll walk next time.

My daughter and grandkids were using the one in San Sebastian just a day before,all went as anticipated.
