I'm no fan of the monarchy as an institution, but that doesn't mean I can't wish the Queen well and wish her every health and happiness.
I don't mind Prince Charles either tbh. As he's grown older, he's recognised the importance of his role, and he's taken on a lot of the Queen's duties the past few years. Sure he holds opinions, and influence - but that's the fault of the role rather than the man. Of course he'll hold an opinion, we all do!

Even the technicalities are the monarch holding control, really. I'd rather abolish the institution, and the House of Lords, in entirety.I wish her no ill personally, there are probably bigger concerns about democracy in this country than her role in it.
However, it isn't quite right to think that the Crown's role is purely ceremonial.
There's quite a long history of interference/lobbying that isn't appropriate for a non-elected head of state, in my opinion.
I don't like the way that it's kept quiet either. See below if you're interested:

But it was Tony Benn who always made clear his issue wasn't with the people and I think that's important to draw that line. I have a lot more respect for the Queen and Prince Charles as people than I do the current elected Prime Minister, after all.
