Yes, but because you’re chuckling doesn’t mean I am wrong. On the contrary it shows that you have nothing to put up as a counter argument. How is the glorious Brexit coming along btw?

More „utter tripe“:

From the failing NYT

„Britain’s rupture with the European Union is proving to be another act of moral dereliction by the country’s rulers. The Brexiteers, pursuing a fantasy of imperial-era strength and self-sufficiency, have repeatedly revealed their hubris, mulishness and ineptitude over the past two years. Though originally a “Remainer,” Prime Minister Theresa May has matched their arrogant obduracy, imposing a patently unworkable timetable of two years on Brexit and laying down red lines that undermined negotiations with Brussels and doomed her deal to resoundingly bipartisan rejection this week in Parliament.

Such a pattern of egotistic and destructive behavior by the British elite flabbergasts many people today. But it was already manifest seven decades ago during Britain’s rash exit from India.“

I’m sure the Diane Abbot critics will also do the same for Johnson, or perhaps not because he’s a posh boy and their caps need doffing

But isn't it amazing that those questioning the lead for the Tories are the same ones who champion the polls from YouGov when it says more want to remain in the EU than leave.

YouGov is either right or wrong. Which one is it?

Just one more from me. Mother in law had a heart attack earlier so have a long drive then whatever happens.

My local MP is now independent. He is just the MP that people want and needs. But he was never happy about Corbyn and was happy to say so. But they put him on a charge for an allegation that he fully denied. They didn't follow procedures and wanted to deselect him. I know him personally. Now he is independent Labour and Corbyn have to follow procedure. The wife is in full contact with him as he is helping out with a local problem as he always does. There is much more about Corbyn that most don't know. He will do anything to keep people quiet.

But he is Labour leader so has never done anything wrong.

Depends on whether they used the new system again or tweaked it further. Their 2017 caveat:

„Given one can hardly run a “test election”, tomorrow will be the first time those methods are tried out. The honest truth is that as pollsters we don’t yet know whether those methods have worked yet – one can only hope that some do and the industry as a whole can learn from the ones that succeed and move on from those that did not.“

I notice Boris' Turkey 'lie'/gaffe is not mentioned on any front page anywhere this morning.

Be completely different if that were a senior Labour politician no doubt.

I seem to remember Hammond getting figures wrong being ok with them as well, it also didn’t get mentioned by those same posters who like to mock Abbott, weird that.

Instead it seems to more important to make up a narrative that some posters on here believe that Corbyn is perfect and immune from criticism, very strange.

Like other times though when pressed for names of posters, I doubt any will be forthcoming.

Boris IS on one front page, but it's just a pic of him and his lover, no mention of anything else, yet he denied mentioning Turkey during the referendum despite it being discovered that he mentioned Turkey several times.

If that were a senior Labour MP the papers would be all over it calling them an out and out liar.

I think bbc should make a programme with people who have a cross section of opinions and allow them to debate what solution they would come up with. You could have experts legal, Europe and constitutional to offer advice and see how they get on with a solution to see how easy it is (tongue in cheek).

Not even the Guardian?

Boris Johnson is a back bench MP - he’s got no relevance any more

UCL carried out a citizens assembly on brexit in 2017 with a wide cross section of speakers and a wide cross section of citizens from all around the country making up the assembly. The findings can be found here Citizens' Assembly on Brexit and here About the Citizens' Assembly on Brexit strangely it didn’t get a lot of press coverage. Actually it’s probably not that strange when you read the reports. It seems general consensus was pretty much in line with parliamentary consensus ie a customs union. Given that this doesn’t fall in line with either May’s red lines or what the apparent “pro remain” press turnout then it’s not surprising that it got little coverage.

If we’re going to have a people’s referendum this should be the question. A customs union or no customs union.

Well the fact is he’s not on the front page of any paper regardless of political persuasion so I fail to see the point.

It was funny seeing the interview but the fact is if it was a labour mp the exposure would never have happened as the question would not have been asked

That sounds like an admission that Labour MP’s are straight and Tory MP’s couldn’t lay straight in bed. He was clearly asked the question for a very specific reason. That reason was clearly to give him the opportunity to lie, which he gladly grasped in both hands.

No one is taking him serious hey

Boris attacks May as he kickstarts leadership bid

Opinion: If Boris Johnson is really this desperate for May’s job, maybe we should just give it to him to shut him up

Next Tory leader odds: Who has been named favourite to succeed May?

An unusual take but still...

A Brexiteer Tory PM would probably split their party even more. But, then again, the party looks like it will split pretty badly if May gets lured into remaining in the CU. That wouldn’t bother me much though.

Both Labour and Conservative are treading on thin ice and a wrong move from either damages their party and their electoral chances. It’s a high stakes game of chicken.
