No but seems like May won’t be lasting too much longer. That’s my opinion anyway.

I'm stuggling to comprhend the relevance of the story to what was being discussed tbh.

Are you suggesting we lock our fish up so the foreign fleets can't catch them or something???

If so - you need to go & have a lie down Mart.

I reckon she will hang on for now, any change in PM would likely lead to pressure for a GE

Got to agree with you, twice in 24 hours!

His persona is based upon an act and being in a badly made film about football violence seems to have led to him being perceived as a 'cockney hard man'.

I'm sure he originally claimed to have voted for Brexit 'because politicians don't do anything', or something along those lines.

So what reminder was this?

The vast majority are not held for long. Their biggest complaint is the threat of detention after release.

So how about comparing it with the version Germany and the EU wants?

yes... Germany wants to use existing detention facilities and send the people back within 48 hours to the country they originally registered in. The last few days that has been around 10 people that they would have to send back from the Bavarian border.

The whole Seehofer plan is a joke. It is all about Seehofer's legacy in the German Home Office and to head off the AfD at the Bavarian State Elections.

Double fail. He has made himself laughing stock trying to crack a nut with a sledge hammer of bureaucracy, and AfD are gaining in Bavaria because he has made right wing views more acceptable. His own party has "Christian" in the name and many see him acting in an unchristian spirit. Time he resigned. He keeps threatening it and doesn't do it.

48 hours in existing facilities? They don't even k ow what countries they will be held yet.

Juncker doesn't seem to think it is a joke either.

More and more people I speak to say they don't think Brexit will happen in any form (both remainers and leavers), I disagree and think it'll end up as the EEA option/EEA in all but name.

Thoughts?

Every EU leader wants us to stay in the EU. They will and are doing everything they can to make us stay. That is everything other than change things that would benefit us.

Every EU country wants us to stay in the EU. They will also do whatever they can to make us stay. We pay too much into the system And buy too much of their goods for us to leave and make our own deals around the world.

Against this we know that any leader or any party that makes us stay in the EU will be finished. And if we stayed in UKIP would be back and stronger than ever. If there was enough people that felt strong enough about it they could even become the biggest party in the UK.

Other than that I don't have a clue.

I've been convinced since the vote that it won't happen. The UK being independent of Europe is a big barrier to the future agenda

I'd say that before the referendum the average person on the street wasn't that bothered about the EU.

If we do leave you can be sure that the UK will have one of the most passionate pro EU support bases on the continent; on the other hand if it was reversed it'd be the same for leavers.

The sole reason for calling a referendum was to heal a rift in the Tory Party, that worked well didn't it?

Germany is the most passionate of the whole of the EU. They do miles better than anyone else who is a member. The problem they have is those being affected the wrong way is growing.

The cost of just running the EU is getting bigger each year. That isn't the money they distribute. That is the money that they take. The money that goes to MEP's. The money that goes to their unearned pensions. The money that goes to their experiences. It costs billions of pounds.

UKIP will change their Name. And pretend to be mainstream Brexit. It is up to the real „decent folk“ to resist. It won‘t be easy to resist the populist assault... but I will .. #hangfarage

So real decent people only want to stay in the EU?

UKIP did us a massive favour. It stopped the racists from getting a large % of the vote like what has happened in Germany and other EU countries. The biggest problem I can see with us not leaving is us ending up with the same problem as Germany has or even worse. So if for some reason we stay in the EU it would be best if UKIP were still around.

Maybe but a lot of that pro support is based on fear particularly amongst the young due to relentless social media propaganda.
In the hypothetical situation that we left, once people realised that most the horror stories weren't going to happen I think it would die down.

The problem is that this should never have been a referendum as the general lack of understanding from both sides amongst the general public is frightening and largely based on Facebook copy and pastes.

I just hope that when the backtrack comes that we will have enough political pressure in this country to stand up for ourselves and not get dragged into the German led superstate

Then you could argue a lot of leave support was based on fear due to propaganda. I'd argue that it's a question of one's self identity as well.

I'm not sure if the EU thread is right to post this but Jeremy Hunts successor appears to be a bigger advocate of getting rid of the NHS than he was.
Really worrying for me and I'm sure no matter what your political hue we will all regret it if we lose it.

All countries in the EU now have them. So it depends what countries you are talking about.

The UK one was Britain First. That came more or less from the BNP. Non racists voted for them as they didn't have a voice anywhere else. When UKIP came along their vote suddenly went down. So that is why I say we need UKIP if we stay in the EU. I don't want us to end up like Germany or even worse the countries that have fascist leadership in the EU.

Self identity?

How do you work that one out?

Remain was fully based on fear. Headstones of untold amount of soldiers. House prices crashing. Unemployment shooting up. Share prices crashing. And that is for starters. And all if we voted leave.

Leave was on promises. Not all true. A bit was on fear. Not all true but more true than remain.

Oh the insults are back. Well done.

So let's have a look.

How many headstones was there going to be if we voted leave? Fear?

House prices were going to crash if we voted leave? Fear?

Share prices would crash if we voted leave? Fear?

The unemployment rate would go up by millions if we voted leave? Fear?

How about the bus that keeps getting mentioned? Was that fear? No. It was the truth stretched a very long way.

Homelessness going up if we keep the borders open? Fear and truth if we don't start building hundreds of thousands of houses a year.

Would you like to complete the list?
