The days when it snowed on match day. (1 Viewer)

This bought back memories of when games went ahead during winter.. Supporters clearing pitches, games being paused to clear lines and fans walking to matches without having to be informed it was sloppy under. Snowball fights against the opposition supporters..

It wasn't that unusual in the 70s through the 90s for all games to be off. You'd often seen the snow piled up behind the touch lines for a few weeks in a cold winter. Snow before Christmas seems very rare now but it was pretty common back then.

I'm a bit boring so was watching the weather at the weekend, the forecaster was saying that there are 3 weeks less ground frosts today than 50 yrs ago, seems to be less snowy winters also.

Standing/Sitting in slushy snow on the terraces in a pair of Sambas was certainly character building!
When grounds were based nearer town centres people had more options to get to a game- walking mainly.
Somewhere like the CBS would be much more likely to be called off due to closed roads and public transport cancellations, let alone the car parks..
