I’d love to be one of those people who chance their arm and wait for some bargains but I just can’t . I was in the Holyhead the other day and a shop lifter was taking ordersJust had the annual internal debate, panic and ”sod it” session.
Buys a frozen turkey crown around 20th December
Debates how to defrost it and when 21st - 22nd December
Plumps for a safe fridge defrost over a couple of days, neglecting that the fridge is packed with the rest of the Xmas scran
Forgets everything
Wakes up 5am 24th December panicking how and when to defrost it in time
Spends two hours reading various online resources saying it MUST be defrosted in fridge or risk poisoning all family and guests
Spends 30 mins reading horror stories of crowns not fully defrosting in fridge in time
Debates defrosting it at room temperature and risking lives
Thinks sod it and defrosts in the (cooler) conservatory anyway
(three years in a row and no salmonella etc. yet)
Sounds lovey , did a present run earlier dropped my daughter to work shs inand then off to Mass . Daughter did a great job of arranging the tableThe wife and I are having Christmas at home this year; we'd normally splash out to have lunch at a pub but have decided to stay in. We don't eat meat so will be having a goats cheese starter and a cauliflower pithivier for main alongside roasties, yorkies and numerous oven-ready sides. We're going out tonight for our traditional curry-based sesh with my parents. One of my favourite weeks of the year![]()
I've always done it at room temperature a day or two before, no problemsJust had the annual internal debate, panic and ”sod it” session.
