Who would you give it to?

For me, as a season ticket holder. I go week in week out down the Ricoh and the only player who has any sort of voice of reason and shout to the players is MURPHY. Yes he may drop a few clangers now and then but he is the only one who shouts on the pitch, others may say Wood but he doesn't say anything, and sounds like he had a shocker Tuesday night.

i'd keep it with kilbane but he is pushed out the team then is should be murphy as you said he's the only one which shouts, i would say sheffers but he isn't himself atm so would not play him until he has his head straight

Give it too Murphy. He is a good keeper, just unfortunate in the fact he followed Westy and will never reach his level. Kilbane is past it, he was originally signed as a squad player not to play every game. With the new signings he shouldn't feature

How about Edge, I'd say he makes more commandments than wood.

It will be interesting to see if Robbins is brave enough to change captain. It's a big thing within a club, and if he does change it, could show a problem stemming from Kilbane...

I think it sums us up and highlights a problem for us when there isn't a stand out candidate to be captain.
There isn't anyone who is vocal on the pitch for us when we go a goal down, to try and gee the players back up.
Murphy shouts a lot, but it's just bollockings when he does, there isn't any direction in it.

I wish we could have kept McPake and/or Keogh, they would have been ideal.

Murphy and Wood would be good shouts. I like Kilbane. Another player I had high hopes for but if you go back to his first interview its "Well, I've never really been a captain before and I'm not great at telling people what to do but, hey I'll give it a go"

Inspiring stuff!

I have to disagree with the first few as no chance murphy. His attitude stinks and was so poor on Tuesday. Wood would be a good choice but has no confidence at the minute. I would be tempted to go with someone like Clarke who is one of the only players who have given 100% in the last few games. Would mean something to him as well.

Murphy, is the only shouter in the squad! It doesn't matter he dropped a few clangers, Clarke hasn't played that well recently. Murphy is more experienced and would get more respect from the team

I would keep it with Kilbane, he might not be the ideal candidate but changing the captaincy straight away is likely to do more harm than good.

Just because someone shouts a lot doesn't make them a good captain. It also has to be constructive and as you can hear most of his stuff at the Ricoh these days it's not exactly constructive. He criticises Hussey more than the fans! And that's a lot! As Tuesday shown we badly need a leader tho as the heads went and no one stood up and took responsibility at all.

Ha fair enough! And I didn't mean to nitpick just can't stand murphy at the min! I think I would bring Gary mac back into the team and choose him! He looked decent when came on Tuesday (Altho Shrewsbury had already packed up and gone home) and would maybe bring bit of cov passion to it. Kilbane wouldn't even be in my team and Wood needs to sort his own game out. Also tempted by Jordan Clarke as been a fan of his since he returned from injury!

Gary Mcsheffrey should be nowhere near the team let alone the Captaincy...

Mcsheffrey should be in the team upfront

However I agree he's not a captain

Why shouldn't he be near the team? Are we saying kilbane is a better left winger? Or Carl Baker warrants a place in te team? Or Barton? Or Elliot? Tell me how over the last few weeks deserve to play ahead of him?

Have I missed something with mcsheffrey?

i'd definitely strip it off kilbane. he's just not good enough to play week in week out
jennings would be top candidate for me. followed by murphy. followed by wood.

McGoldrick is a very good choice. He has passion and has been bar far the best player on that pitch since his arrival. Maybe his passion might just rub off on the other players if he's the one giving the orders. Also think if you give it to Jennings, he might buck up his ideas. His position in the centre of midfield could be crucial to making our team work together. I just think though that if you do take the captancy from Kilbane, he might react in the wrong way to it. I mean I don't see him playing as many games as he has been under Robin's.

Jennings is a good shout. No obvious choice.
Don't like keepers as captains. Ideally should
be a midfield dictating the game and can be
heard from all areas of the pitch.

Not Murphy. All he does is criticise, mostly after his dodgy clearances.

It should never be a GK.He can't get to most of the players when he wants as he is stuck in his area. I prefer it to be a midfielder for this reason, although nothing wrong with it being a defender

Jennings would be my choice. Not too young, where as Clarke or even Fleck would turn out to be as bad as Scott Dann was was when he had the armband and there was a clear change in his performances when he had it.

Kilbane will be dropped (or rested if you like) sometime soon and we need a replacement ready!

Wood isn't performing as we'll as I would have liked this season so don't think he'd be the sort of player to inspire the other players into playing well.

Or whenever he concedes. Very rarely does he not have a rant at someone else when the ball hits his net.

I personally think he needs to look closer to home when conceding the majority of the time......

We actually do not have an outstanding candidate for captaincy! KK on paper has the attributes with vast experience, international caps and appeared at a World Cup and therefore nothing should faze him and he should be a relaxed role model for the younger players when shit is hitting the fan. However, he has been SHITE and I do not even think he deserves a place in the team, let alone captain our club. IMO the captain must be in the spine of the team but I just cannot suggest who. For me, the captain must be a consistently good performer and does not neccessarily require motivational skills, or to be able to yell instructions, etc as I believe this is the job of the manager. Only individual I could think of is Jennings. I do not think he has been as bad as people make out on here. I believe it's more a case of his job in the team is not likely to get him rave reviews. He is just there to break up play and move the ball on. The most likely player IMO that will get stuck in and lead by example.

I'd be tempted to give it to someone like Clarke or Thomas, and make everyone aware that it's a temporary thing until one of the senior players prove they deserve the honour.
