The bitterness... (14 Viewers)

Is it going for anyone else? Been thinking recently about just how bitter I have become due to supporting a team that had a pretty hellish time for around 20 years. I've been jealous and angry of others for so many things such as

that likes of Brighton and Brentford are prem clubs and we aren't

Leicester had opera singer title celebration

Hull had Brazilian geovanni scoring worldies in prem

Pro Evo didn't have cov as a team during glory years

Not being in match of the day

West ham won conference league

Wolves having the Portuguese national squad

No cov players on FPL

Everytime epl signs record breaking TV deal

soton celebrating promotion on a really sunny day after beating us on tv

Small prem teams beating europeon giants to players

Former players excelling elsewhere like Wilson and maddison

Forest and villa having European football again

They are just a few things I've been bitter or jealous about. There are lots more

But recently it's all going away. We have worked ourselves back up the football league and are now close to being a prem club and everything that comes with it. And I no longer care so much about others. And its nice to have less hate and more positivity!

Not sure if it's just me? Maybe it is just me but it's nice to enjoy football again!
No , i still hate what i hate

I'm bitter that if we are promoted Old big ears won't be on MOTD to watch us, while his beloved Incester are festering in the Chapionship.
Yes definitely one that I agree with. Love linekar myself and wanted him to be presenter when we came back up

Gabby Logan annoys me

I like Kelly cates

I’m more bitter now over one thing. Think this is gonna be an essay!

As a kid, especially all through Primary School, I was one of very very few Cov fans. The few years when the school had no uniform, you’d see loads of Man Utd shirts in particular as well as all the other cliché clubs. It sometimes felt the closest thing I had in common football-wise was my teacher in year 5/6 who was a big Nottm Forest fan - as at that time they were another obscure-ish second tier team. In secondary there were obviously more of us as there’s more pupils, but the percentage was still tragically low.

Extended family-wise, as we started dwindling and dropping down the leagues, relatives started turning attention to Chelsea. I know relatives through marriage stopped going when we were relegated from the Championship and eventually turned their attention to wasps.

I saw the Chelsea supporting relatives at Southampton the other week. And a lot of those kids who wouldn’t have batted an eye at CCFC back then are all on the wagon. That I’m bitter about. I can never feel like they deserve the good times with this club.
See where you’re coming from. I’m in my 60s now and when I was a kid I almost felt like the odd one out being a Cov fan. I think those of us that have stuck with them our whole life do feel more pride in what we’re achieving. It’s great though to have all these extra fans. Just hope they stick with us of the going gets tough

You’ll miss this winning feeling if we go up, you”ll be pining for the fjords (championship) in no time :ROFLMAO:
I’m looking forward to a well manged return in the future. Not sure when but if it’s due to a Wolves style collapse we’ll be a tad bemused.

If there is one hope, it’s to get an investor come in…I have a feeling it will be sooner rather than later.

Although watching us stay up by the skin of our teeth most seasons, it was still more exciting being in the top league, occasionally beating the “giants” in the league. And being able to get in and out of the ground without any issues…. ;)

If we go up, I’ll miss the Wembley trips though ;)

There’s a big Walsall fan on one of my routes. They of course bottled it big time last year after being top and 12 points clear of 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th all tied on 37pts by the end of play on this day last year. Another reason I’d like to keep the handbrake on our current season for now - it’s football, all teams are capable of a horror show I think.

They obviously lost the P/O’s and I was fair and gracious with him, he wasn’t so classy when we’d lost in the dying seconds of the 2nd leg.

I think we will be well managed if/when we go up. If Doug King decides to sell the club once we make it to the Premier League, I would like to think he would have the club's future at heart rather than just sell to anyone who flashes the cash.

Kelly Dalglish Cates is only a presenter on that show because of her father. 🤔

Where as Gabby Yorath Logan is one of the senior female football presenters, I think she may have been one of the first.

I went to that but don't mention the return fixture
Yes. The 2-1 win against Bayern was a feather in the cap but only window dressing for the 6-1 hammering we got in Munich. 4-0 down in the 1st half before Ernie Hunt scored for us. Still, it was terrific to see the likes of Beckenbauer and Gerd Muller at HR. Hope those times can return at the CBS arena before my time is up.

I don’t think I feel bitter about anything really. At times since I really started supporting City about 1970 I’ve been frustrated and disappointed. Occasionally heartbroken.

But mostly we were where we were for a reason e.g. we dodged relegation from the top flight so many times, it felt like it had to happen one season and it did. And if you have bad owners, the football is never going to go well.

But there were always great games and moments as well. Watching us win at spurs to stay up, win in the league cup at Manchester United, win so well at Notts country to go to the play off final. That Jamie Patterson goal last season. I’ve always been proud to wear my scarf, and now my shirt and I just rolled with it I suppose. Fans of other clubs would be smug but I never envied them because my love for my club ran through my veins and I loved that feeling.

i feel like we fans have really earned this season and what will hopefully come. I’m likewise going to roll with it and enjoy every moment.

I don't really understand the "bitterness".......

It was just very sad where we were heading..... undoubtedly made worse by mismanagement and politics..... but we weren't the biggest team to fall down the leagues, and i expect we'd have likely ended up in the 3rd division at some point regardless of who was in charge.

Nor do i understand the bitterness aimed at other clubs..... Luton finished higher than us, and were marginally the better of two poor teams in the playoff final..... good luck to them.... same with Sunderland, very hard to take, but it was such small margins.... dislike them as a fanbase but we weren't cheated out of it.

Its just how football goes.... we were very fortunate to have an extended run in the top division.... maybe we'll appreciate more if we make it up this year, although i won't hold my breath.

I do feel quite strongly about the new breed of fans jumping on the bandwagon..... someone mentioned ex-Liverpool fans now proclaiming their undying love for City (PUSB, etc)

I know one Liverpool fan who became a Wasps fan, before now becoming a "proud CCFC season ticket holder".

Yeah I don't know what some people are smoking. 17th in prem is better than 1st in championship

Yes this year it's amazing for us but it's not something you wanna do again if you can avoid it. So enjoy it this year but just like league 1 title and league 2 playoff final win it's something to remember as a great memory but not something we wanna have to redo.
