People who berate Thorn should be putting all their energys into getting SISU out of the club. The only thing He can do to make us more solid is play 10 defenders at the back. A poor workman blames his tools and Thorn has not done this yet. You need need pace on the flanks and the club is bereft of this and you need better fullbacks to compensate for the attacking threat, we are also lacking in that department. He is playing the only system he can under the circumstances IMO as we would be less solid playing 442, it does not help him either that the likes of Cranie and Klingan have eyes on other things, not that you would blame them its not their mess. The mess we are in now is directly down to the lack of investment in a capable playing squad by SISU and their orange puppet Ken. You can only judge AT when he has been given equal resources to everyone one else either through purchase or the loan market. How can us fans expect the same outcome as other teams when the manager is being sent to fight a war aginst nations with a nucular capabilty when we are arming him with a sling, sorry folks as much as we would like him to be AT aint know David and this is more like Custers last stand.

I don't understand where this idea comes from that people unhappy with Thorn aren't also unhappy with the owners.

It's not a case of one or the other.

IN this analagy that means everyone at the club are SISU's lacky's, what bollocks. Who do we replace him with? He has to walk a tight line between SISU and the playing staff with out loosing his job by saying what he thinks. Do you believe he can openly criticise the hand that feeds him and still get paid at the end of the month, the truth will out when the SISU are no longer.

Has Thorne ever spoke out against Sisu and asked for new players_No.

Going back to the original statement, i totally agree tha SISU have gutted the team however they will tell us that was to keep the club afloat. Another poor decision was the appointment of AT from the offset, you might as well as appointed one of us as we would have had as much chance of surviving this season given the resources he has.

AT is paid by Sisu - do you openly criticise you boss in the media and then expect to turn up all peachy the next day? What are you expecting him to say about his employers? Get rid of AT and you hand Sisu more time to work with a new manger and when that goes wrong in this never ending cycle of hire manger - 12 months later, sack manager, Sisu will have a scape goat to blame and have bought themselves further time. Who do you seriously think wants to take this job on (as the club stands - TODAY??) only someone right at the end of their career - poisoned chalice etc etc

Thorn knows his only chance is to hang on and hope a takeover happens - the team are boys doing a man's job - in fact often 2 men's jobs.

We've been praying for a miracle - if we take 9 points from the next 9 maybe we'll get it.

...The saddest thing about our current demise is that some of our supporters still seem incapable of seeing it.*Many on here seem to be more angry at the manager than they are the owners! It's baffling.

This rot began when SISU decided they were going to stop building our squad and instead strip it of any potential it had. Simply because they had bigger priorities than CCFC.

This being about the time that they sold Scott Dann and Danny Fox.

With the likes of Keiren Westwood, Leon Best, Ben Turner, Aron Gunnarsson, Danny Fox, Scott Dann and Jack Cork we had the making of a decent squad in this league. Not to mention the mooted possible signings of Jordan Henderson and Andy Carroll.

Since then we have lost all of those players added nothing of note and have sunk lower and lower as a consequence. Marlon King's spell at the club served more as a reminder to us of the difference a bit of quality and experience can make to a team.*

The latter being particularly relevant now.

You simply cannot brush aside lack of experience and lack of depth in a squad as 'excuses' for poor results.

Whether people like it or not, these are REASONS for failure not excuses.

AT may be a novice at this stage but no manager could achieve any level of success with our current crop. It is simply too weak a squad.

This summer we were a club that had just finished near the bottom end of the table but instead of trying to stop the rot we lost our best players without replacing them. Is it any wonder the bookies had us down as favourites for the drop?

We all saw this coming, so why are we now blaming the manager?

Just last week we were highlighted on talksport as an example of a terribly run club.

It seems that every f*cker in the country can see why we're struggling apart from our own fans!

Watching us lose to Peterborough yesterday while hearing that Scott Dann, Aron Gunnarsson and Ben Turner were on the score sheet elsewhere was very very depressing...

Absolute brilliant post mate i have often thought the same, its always "lets sack the manager" when its clear that thorn only has monkeys to work with and sisuscum are not doing their job properly by providing Thorn with the tools to build something.

The squad with those in and others better than the current squad managed to finish 17th on 54 points, a massive one point higher than the previous season.

Think more said can be said for Ranson's misjudgement in appointing Coleman(after, even i would admit some reasonable investment in the squad) than SISU there.

Invest about £5million on the playing side, losses still at about £5million per year, declining crowds, and a one point gain?

Fucked if I'd let Ranson waste anymore of my money if I was SISU.

Yes but that was the Premier League equivalent surely a much bigger achievement to survive than our current league.

And BG finished with a win ratio of 31% not the current season to date of a pathetic 9% - just about the worse ANYWHERE.

How much lower in results performance do we have to go before even the AT diehards might start criticising AT's record - it can't get much lower ???

PUSB

I'm not saying we can't criticise Thorn. To be honest football was completely different back then in terms of technical ability, playing conditions, fitness, tactics, etc. Top flight teams would regularly buy lower league and non league players and play them in the first team - that very rarely happens anymore. If they do buy someone from lower leagues they'll usually play them in the reserves for a year or so. And some of those players in Gould's teams were pretty decent and many either had or went on to have a long top flight career (Alladyce, Peake, Roberts, Pearce, etc) and there was quite a bit of attacking flair in Gibson, Bennett, Gynn, Daly, etc.

To be honest every season we are usually in the top 6-8 at christmas after a good start and then start the to slide down the slippery slope.

Let's not let a couple of good results dampen our resolve. Ridding ourselves of SISU is more important than any odd victory on a Saturday.
