Clarke at times last season was brilliant. I certainly thought he mgiht be one to move on to a Champ club when we went down. He did well tonight, 2 great cushion headers, the last was amazing, it was coming over his head, back to goal and he nodded it straight to Murphy and trotted off as if it was nothing. Job done! Great assist as well.

Why is there the need to slate him/Christie, can't we accept that at this level, and potentially the level above in time, we have two solid options at RB

Apart from trying to backheel his way out of trouble in front of our 'keeper....

Yes, that was ill advised.....but he can cut that out of his game.....surely?
It is interesting to see that people's opinion of him tends to be polarised
He overplays it occasionally.....but the speed of thought and footballing brain...is there....the bit you cannot teach.....I expect MR to get the best out of him.:guitar2:

Good points.

Firstly, his undoubted talent and secondly, the import of coaching.

Very talented player but as a defender, he needs to focus on safety as paramount

The kid has got serious technique. If he can cut out silly mistakes and over playing the ball he'll do well.
He'll be ahead of us as a club within the next 5 years.

Being correct is all part of my game

But notwithstanding his all-round good performance, wasnt your patience wearing thin watching him fail to get rid...?
In the first quarter the jury was out but as the game progressed he was def worth his position. I like to see confidence in young players .

No chance

His passing was shite, he didn't get past half way line at all till the end, let's his man drift and has extremely poor decision making

His heading was good today tho

All of which can be removed from his game by training.
He has all the attributes, and like I said, within the next 5 years, he'll be a good player.
You are notoriously anti Clarke anyway. And as you say 'you know more than everyone else' anyway. So I'll leave you to it.

A strange game from Clarke, some nice touches to escape a crowd of players one minute, then messing around in the six yard box the next!. No need for a new RB though I don't think. If either Clarke or Christie has a couple of bad games, they can be switched and one taken out of the firing line. The inconsistency and dodgy decision making is down to inexperience, last season must've been a nightmare for both of them. No need to panic though, they'll come good.

just maybe, hang on a mo,
we have a tremendous supply of talent coming through the ranks,
imagine if we could keep our product, for a while,
we could potentially walk this league,
& achieve 'sky blue glory',
our youth product equals many other teams, & we don't steal a ridiculuous number of players,
this is CCFC if you love us stick with us,
otherwise seek pastures new,

Exactly. AND they'll come good a whole lot quicker with less idiocy from the Boo boys.
Young players with talent are an easy target......It beggars belief that even after tonight there those who only emphasise the negative.:jerkit::jerkit:
They must be charming to know.

U sounded like it, as if I'm bullying Jordan

I've laid out my reasons and im sure most will agree with that assesementbfor today's game at least

Dont think it was anti Clarke at all

Not at all. My main point was you think you know more than everyone else. It makes me laugh.

Why not, Clarke is good at crossing, chips in with a good goal now n then, when he played RM the select few times under AB, he played well...

No he made one good cameo for the last 10 mins against Barnsley under AB , his other appearances there under AB he was poor.

right midfield is a specialist position, there more to it than scoring the odd goal and put in crosses. It's about positioning, making particular runs - when to stay wide when to go infield, playing quite a lot of the match with your back to goal, tracking midfield runners, getting the ball further upfield often marked. Game awareness, guile, skill, passing, etc.

It's not an easy position to play.

Yeah, but it works on football manager.

In all seriousness though, people get too hung up on a players position. It can all be learned. Not saying Clarke at right midfield would work, but it's not outside the realms of possibility.

Definitely. The fustration at times is understandable, what he tried in our box was madness and to be honest, he himself probably knew it was. He did it ten minutes later on the half way line surrounded by three players and it worked. He's got the talent though, kept Adam Johnson quiet a couple of seasons ago and I thought he had a reasonable game against Bale too. Tonight was a bit hit and miss, but in a couple of seasons time he'll be in the Championship, with or without us.

Clarke is 21, so you don't think he was good enougth when he was 15/16 nice to know you give the academy lads time to settle in and develope there game.

what? this is the SAME argument people used 4 yers ago

do you not think he should have improved in that time? he has...barely

dont give me craspa bout not giving him time because i have given him 4 years and i continueto do so

but if he aint got it at 21 chancs are he wont get it

sooner or latter you have to wise up and realise we need to get rid, just because hes from academy doesnt give him a free pass

and also i never boo players so dont say i am on his back etc

Such a promising talent, should get a lot more support from our boys.
We all know what he is capable of.
How great is it though that a talent like Christie has a dip in form. In comes Jordan desperate to prove himself.

It is a shame Hussey could not do the same with Adams however maybe he will bring someone in now.
