Yeah, I also think that (despite him having done it for Everton last season) that Robins is unlikely to view Simms as ready to lead the line in the way that he'd like him to up front on his own. We've signed wing backs with the objective of getting the ball into the box, no point wasting that by having nobody in there. Not sure Leicester are as fluent a footballing team as Middlesbrough were.

I might be completely wrong though but just can't see him not playing Godden after pre season.

Haven’t seen the preseason games aside from brief highlights but from his reel certainly looked like his strength and you’d assume why he was brought in. As others have said looks like MR is building a more technical side who can better retain possession.

Makes sense when we don’t have Vic and might not have Hamer which would hugely reduce our counter attacking style.

We haven’t started or switched to a loan striker in any pre season friendly.

I agree Robins would normally be cautious but I think he’s currently worried that Simms work rate won’t work as a lone striker.

I expect him to go with an experienced team and formation and try to stay in the game with 25 mins to go … then add in Milan and Tats to try and create something

Don’t think that’s far off, I think Bidwell’s defending ability will get him the nod over Desilva.
If Wilson is 100% I think he will got the nod for goalkeeper

Don't think Robins will play 2 up top unless we sign a top striker this week.
And surely it will be MVE at RWB.
Think Eccles will start with Sheaf and Hamer in midfield, with Simms at the lone front man.
Sakamoto and Godden as subs!

As others have said before we’ve played 2 strikers all of pre season, Godden starts Sunday.

All reports I've read about Simms is that he is much better with a partner up front. He is a very different player to Gyokores and would not be able to cover the ground that he did as a lone forward while still providing a goal threat. I therefore also believe Godden will start, even if we bring in another forward before Sunday.

We’ve played a back three all pre-season, even when we only had one centre half so Robins is not going revert to a back four. By all accounts MVE and Dasilva are better wing backs than full backs too
