We can afford to imo yes. Good strikers aren't 10 a penny, hence we don't have any
In seriousness Wright is good but he's off it way too much and if he's the major sacrifice for Lampards war chest then I'm ok with it.

Going to be difficult though to find 3 good strikers.

I do think FL will play it relatively safe and may keep Simms.

We're not going to get any great offers for him in, are we.

Yeah and I meant replacing our strikers with better ones. That what I meant by they are not ten a penny.

If as I expect he starts with two wide men and an isolated striker on Tuesday, we've no chance.

Same again for me. I actually think we’ll turn them over fairly easily up there.

The one change for me would be Simms for BTA.

Listening to his press conference I think he will.

We'll debate personel ad nauseum between now and Tuesday but in reality the most important factor will be the game plan.

We had 76% possesion last night, teams are allowing us to have the ball, I've been saying it for weeks.

I'm sure Frank has been part of teams that have had to overcome a first leg deficit against a team parking g the bus, he needs to draw on that experience

No pressure on us now. We are expected to lose. They’ll have 40,000 piling pressure on them to get over the line. As long as we don’t concede an early goal, this is far from over

Yeah, was furious with his performance last night but on reflection he still has to play.
He might not turn up again, but there's no guarantee any of our other strikers will.

I do wonder if he'll start him down the middle with EMC out left

Game plan is the key.

Go gung ho and we'll be far too open.
Need to remember Sunderland are not a great side.
Id go with two central strikers, Wright and Simms, Rudoni behind.

Pretty convinced that Wright came here hoping to use us as a gateway to something better in England. He has ability of sorts for sure but with our limited resources it can't just be seen once every 5/6 games. Front line is the big job for closed season. The next part of our project for me is to become a dominant Championship club aiming to look towards 3rd or 4th with a points total comfortably within the play offs. For that we need more firepower. Starting next season without him, Simms, BTA and Bassette would be a start

Why not? It’s the same system we used during the run that’s taken us into the playoffs.

As i said in the match thread, I reckon a few of our strikers go in the summer.

At this point I think that Simms and BTA will leave - I reckon if someone offers £12-15m for Wright we’d cash in as well. We need more quality throughout the side to be more dynamic, IMO.

Because we're chasing a game and if we play the same system they'll just sit back and pick us off again.

I was actually thinking after the Boro cameo , that the coaches had worked their magic with BTA. Very sadly things haven’t changed & the player of reportedly £3 mill , is a very expensive bench warmer at best .
Let’s hope we can off load for some of that out lay ?

Exactly that.

There will be an expectancy from them and no expectancy from ourselves.

And we did only lose to a terrible backpass. We have to remember that.

I fancy our chances still.

We all know he will stick to 433 and barely change it

I love Lampard, hes worked wonders to get us here, but he doesn't half show some Robins hallmarks when it needs changing up

Don’t agree with the criticism of the forward line last night. Sunderland shut up shop from minute one. We didn’t adjust and just kept giving it Grimes in front of a wall of Sunderland players. The play should have been to go more direct more quickly. They were the only moments we looked dangerous. The way they were set up if it didn’t come off we’d have just got the ball back anyway

Put competent and hungry players who have a point to prove and a system that works. Problem is how to implement that by Tuesday? Wright is lazy, Simms lacks confidence, BTA lacks height and has limited ability, Sheaf dawdles and can’t get a shot on target to save his life. Also FL has no idea how to unlock a team playing a low block. He always plays a high line and has no plan B. Regis Le Brie has done his homework and they’re halfway there.

Assuming we concede, I really don't see us scoring 3 with Wright already eyeing his next move and Simms bumbling around like he's on Spice

Feels very Mike Bassett, but I’d go 4-4-2.

It’s a bit of a waste of Rudoni, but if we’re so poor against a low block we need to try something different.

So I would play direct with Simms and Wright up front. Everyone knows how poor O’Nien is, give him something to worry about all game.

Sakamoto and Rudoni are both good crossers, and MVE/JDS aren’t bad either.

Their keeper also looks panicked under pressure.

So I’m not opposed to anti-football, pepper the box, long, quick ball forwards to get their defenders on the turn which can lead to mistakes or at least gain yards that way for long throws into the box.

We aren’t breaking them down, so let’s adapt.

Agree with that. And if you do a bit more of that there is a case for dropping one of Sheaf or Grimes for Allen

So it's not just us that Wright has showed the same attitude -- check this out an interesting read.

Did it with Derby against Leeds. I think we’ll do it but probably just heart over head atm

I would keep Bassette to be honest. Send him out on loan to a L1 side and see how he gets on.

I really like Wright, but he can't carrying being this inconsistent. It's damaging to the team and if Simms is hardly scoring at all, he is a burden to us as well.

Can we afford to lose all 3 though, all at the same time? BTA, Simms AND Wright.

Good strikers are not ten a penny.

It's a dilemma.

I think Wright will have a good game on Tuesday though, you just wait and see. Same goes for Simms, if he's picked
If it’s remotely feasible I’d like to do a player exchange with Norwich of Wright and Simms for Sargent and Sainz. I might throw in stepover king EMC or BTA to sweeten the deal.

Wright wasn't really at it but he was still a bigger threat than BTA who was a complete passenger.

75% possession and he had 23 touches. Genuinely disgraceful.

That's because we do not move the ball quickly enough, it takes us too long to go from side to side and by the time we do Wright or Saka are tightly marked.

Most managers don’t chop and change formations on a regular basis. Both Lampard and Robins have shown a knack for pulling out late results and deserve a bit of trust.
