This from the Trust website ......

The Sky Blue Trust has been in regular contact with all the local authorities in the Coventry area concerning the prospect of CCFC building a new stadium and all have reported that, to date, there has been no contact between them and the club. The councils that were contacted were Coventry, Stratford, Solihull, Warwickshire, Daventry, Rugby, Warwick, Nuneaton and Bedworth, Hinckley and Bosworth and North Warwickshire. Each was asked specifically if “In the period from 4th March 2014 until 14th August 2014, whether members, officers or other representatives of the council had taken part in any discussions, meetings or correspondence with Coventry City Football Club, Otium Entertainments Ltd, SISU Capital, CBRE or any individuals or companies acting on their behalf” – a negative response was received for every council.

Last month Tim Fisher is reported as saying “We have had meetings this week and I am currently focused on the land deal. It has been made clear the Ricoh Arena is not for sale which we fully respect and ACL understand we need to seek our own revenues. Outside of match days we have 340+ days where we generate no revenues and this hamstrings us as a club so we need those year-round revenues.”

The Sky Blue Trust will continue in its on-going dialogue with the club and all local councils and will monitor the situation with interest

In fairness Fisher hasn't said he met with any local authority representatives (not that I believe the new stadium is anything other than bluff). The Trust are not really disproving what he said.

don't think the Trust are trying to disprove what he said as such............. just there is no evidence from any of the councils that any progress has been made. It may be the case that it is a private land deal and no approach has been made to any council as yet. But you might think after more than a year that something more substantial might have happened. The club has been looking at this since December 2012.

Yep, very fair point - although you would think that most football stadium developers might at least sound out the local council before looking to buy a site. Either way, I genuinely wish TF would just belt up about this, even if the club are actually considering it. Ditto ACL and the whole Wasps thing.

Some nice, quiet behind the scenes diplomacy to get CCFC a permanent stake in ACL is what I want to see - or technically not see, at least until it's done. :)

Who made the statement about a year ago (might have been longer, might have been sooner. Really, who can keep tabs on the amount of "statements" that have been made by SISU, subsidiaries and employees of either on this subject) saying that they were in contact with local authorities and had been asked to prepare impact statements amongst other things? Was that not Fisher?

Of course they could be manouvering through the mask of a third party submitting plans ,the rumoured Broad street /Warwick uni connection .

I've said this before, but obviously SBT committee are collectively not very smart or not listening ...

That question is far too specific & easy to dodge, in fact i'd expect SISU to disguise their approaches, it is not as if they're open on anything if they can avoid it!

SBT should be asking about any possibility, e.g. any proposed development greater than (say) 20acres discussed with anyone, never mind the sport stadium angle, that could be a fall back plan on a big land deal.

Take your point on board but I think it's worth pointing out that the FOIs were submitted by someone who was the CEO of a local authority for a considerable amount of time and also worked in planning at that local authority for decades. It doesn't state "stadium, arena, etc and covers any development in the question doesn't it?

the likely response to that would be a blanket we are unable to comment. There will be projects going on or put forward that will be covered by commercial confidentiality, and there may well be a considerable volume of information that is actually just not relevant to what we want to know. The likelihood of a proper response to such a general question is not great.

The question asked does not ask about a stadium in any case it asks about any contact with CCFC etc or anyone representing CCFC etc. That would cover land purchase for other activities, planning stadiums all the way down to planning permission for signage
