Did godden touch it?

Not sure why we dropped Bidwell at the same time as bringing binks in

Dasilva was a liability all night long, pretty much anything they created was down his side through getting outpaced, outmuscled and beaten for height. Needed Bidwell on at half time

Sheaf 7.5 - Better

Wright's best game
Tatsu 8.5
Rest 7.5

Desilva ok on the ball but teams are going to target him. I don't mind him with Bidwell behind him not being exposed like that.

Allen looked frustrated effected his game.

Collins - 5 - looked pretty weak the last few now. Can’t concede in that side of the goal from a free kick.

Latibeaudiere - 6 - ok, nowhere near the attacking outlet that MvE is. Looked a little better in centre mid.
Thomas - 7 - far more composed performance tonight. Silly header leading to the free kick.
Binks - 6 - alright, could tell he hadn’t played in a while.
Dasilva - 5 - got exploited a lot first half, not quite as much second half, but largely got away with it. If the back 4 is here to stay then I’d be looking to get rid already as that will become a theme.

Sheaf - 6 - fantastic at times, sloppy at times.
Allen - 4 - probably the poorest game I’ve seen him have in a couple of years. Really lacked composure.
Palmer - 7 - main creative outlet for the first 60 minutes, although he still doesn’t work back and that led to some defensive issues.

Sakamoto - 7 - good as ever, tired towards the end and I’d have subbed him off.
Godden - 4 - marginally better than Boxing Day. Marginally.
Wright - 7 - threatening for most of the game but still prone to a brain fart.

MvE - 7 - gave us far more attacking impetus, although bizarre free kick when he just booted it to the middle of the pitch.
O’Hare - 6 - not as influential tonight.
Simms - 5 - poor performance when he came on to be honest. Extra mark for the goal.

Unless we have another Kirkland kicking around the kids, we will have to get used to this long term, whoever has the gloves.

I don’t think Godden was that bad and Sheaf did a fair bit wrong that for me cancels out what he did well. Not least contributing to both opposition goals

On the train back

Godden, Allen shouldn’t start. Allen should not be asked to play that role in midfield again.

Sheaf, Saka, Wright stand outs.

Palmer superb - can we play him in the same team with COH?

Defensively thought we did more than ok including JDS.

Swansea very lucky with the draw - we move on.

Da Silva and Godden and Allen really should be squad players at best they don't warrant a starting place we need to try replace them with more quality if not this window then in the summer

Da Silva 3'
Wright & Thomas 8.5
Palmer 8
Sheaf anything from 6-8 depending on how you view the 2 crucial mistakes

Still , very good performance with key players rested / suspended.
Fully expect a good crack at the play off places

Agree Allen works hard but loses the ball to easily when challenged. Like Godden, but non existent in our current style of play

Collins 4 - second goal his fault, you don’t get beat in that corner from a free kick, handling is frightening
Lati 7
Thomas 8
Binks 7
DaSilva 5
Sheaf 8.5 MOTM
Allen 5
Palmer 8 - changed his rating from a 7, probabaly the best I’ve seen him play
Saka 7
Wright 6 - from the sublime to the utter embarrassing all in 90 minutes, I can’t mark him so just gets a 6
Godden 6

Subs
Simms 6
COH 6.5
MVE 6.5

The central striker role Simms/Godden play, I’m starting to think is a bit of a thankless task. All the good stuff happens in the wide areas from Wright or Sakamoto , neither of them are getting a sniff really at anything. Even Simms goal tonight he has had to basically rob from Wright.

Godden … anonymous
Allen …careless
Da Silva…. exposed

Tats, Palmer, Wright and Thomas all performed well.

Matt Grimes would slot into our midfield perfectly !

I was there, the amount of times he wins the ball back and gets tackles in, he’s had a great game. Doesn’t hide away, always showing for the ball and keeps us ticking over.

The ball over the top of their left back for Saka in the second half was absolutely top class.

Agree with that apart from the comment on JDS, thought he was poor, though as others have said, not culpable for either goal .

These are the scores.

Dasilva is technically good but they targeted him today. Had some very good moments…but unfortunately its just not enough.
If he was taller he’d probably be awesome.

But he’s not.

Collins has to do better with the goal, gonna be very hard for the Swansea player to get it up and down from that close so Collins has to make sure his side is covered
