Yes such terrible forward play never in the right place…

Simms’s positioning for his chance in the first half was brilliant, it was just a tame effort, and should’ve scored in the 2nd half. It was only until I watched the highlights that I realised just how good a chance it was. There’s been games where Hai has missed 2-3 gilt edge chances so it’s just part and parcel of being a striker. Simms’ positioning is one of the attributes that is genuinely quality and may be how he makes the step up.

I was down the bottom so was difficult to gauge how close he actually was.

Are there any rules in the Championship about getting a winner's medal, i.e. a minimum number of minutes played?

Named in 25% of squads from the looks of this unless the club pay for extra

Think only Yang and Markelo are in danger of not hitting that if they miss any squads from here.

I’ve not checked everyone but I’m reasonably sure Simms has scored more headed goals than any other Champ striker. Maybe not “thumping” but they all count. He’s one of the best in the division for aerial duels as well. We give our strikers a lot of shit but their record is excellent. He gets in good positions and he scores goals at rates better than the vast majority. There were people claiming if we sold him he wouldn’t be worth what we paid which I think is nonsense. We always remember missed chances but good striker miss more than bad ones. Bad ones don’t get the chance to miss generally. Maybe they’re not Gyokeres but they’re both bloody good at this level IMO.
Last time I checked, it was Simms and Keiffer Moore who were joint top by a mile. Simms was close to, if not top last season too.

If a striker scores 2+ headers in a season, that’s above average.

Of the ones I checked (most who had scored more than 10 and were strikers) him Moore and Vipitnik were on 4 each. And he’s played a lot less minutes than those two I’d guess.

I think we might sell him just cos he’s got a year left but I could see us keeping him as third striker an he’d do a job in the PL TBH.

I’ve jus checked, he’s scored 3 since the Xmas period, he was 1 the last time I checked, which would’ve been around Charlton (h) to around mid-December. He’s probably an outlier too because he’s no where near Simms (top 90%) nor Moore (top 99%) for ‘aerial duals won’, he’s sitting in the top 47%.

His name rings a bell now, I’m pretty sure we were linked with him tenuously before he went to Bordeaux.

Yeah we were. Someone posted about that earlier.
