In US sports I think the only real tribalism you get as we know it is in college sports. You get schools close to each other, playing most seasons, competing locally for fans and players etc.

even their remakes, aren't even close to UK comedy
The Office remake was decent if you made it past the first series that was basically remakes of the original episodes.

They finally seem to have realised that if you make 20+ episodes a year you can't maintain quality.

Hmm...can trace my family all the way back to 1654 and the Cotswold's and Cheltenham and am good old, proper English.

Love the NFL and think it's bloody brilliant. Best sport in the world, for me
it was shit trolling, he must have been lonely last night judging by his postings

have you seen the state he made of himself on the Andrew and Dasilva thread?

I know what you mean, though I was lucky enough to go to an Oakland Raiders game, many years ago. That was surprisingly 'tribal'.

It even kicked off a few rows in front of us (no segregation, obviously). Apparently this might have been a Raiders thing rather than an NFL thing, and Oakland (like Coventry) isn't a particularly posh town. It was only scuffles and it soon calmed down, but it definitely wasn't what I was expecting! Brilliant day out overall, loved it.

I think the Raiders were known for a fan culture and you see that in other sports there (e.g. Sounders in MLS) but I still don't think there's much in the way of hardcore, tribal rivalry. Raiders move to Vegas kinda bears that out.

And cheers was better than Frasier?

And obviously it's all about personal preference, but I'd say The Simpsons is funnier than them both, and indeed anything else created either side of the pond.

Like I say though, opinions differ, except maybe on that Mrs Brown thing. Does anyone actually find that funny - I guess someone must!

Which is one of the reasons I don't really follow NFL that closely. The franchise model seems hideous to me.

It screwed over Oakland as a town financially (twice, in effect, with the LA move too), and I just don't get how teams can do this to their fans.

Love American football me, fan-culture is nothing like our football though. College (American) football is closer to what we have. Traditions and rivalries etc

The NFL is run by billionaire owners, in what should be a warning to the English game. If gates drop or a 'bigger market' opens up they just up-stick and move. It's mind boggling.

As a spectacle and a demonstration of what the human body can do and withstand it's unparalleled though.

Well, yeah, but I think they are talking in terms of London aren't they?
If they want a closed stadium and want to open up the UK market, then is there really a huge difference between Cardiff and London? I mean, all the yanks wont know the difference. They probably think Cardiff is in London anyway.

Fawlty Towers is up there for sure.

My personal favourite is Porridge, but then love The Office, Fawlty Towers.etc. Used to really love Men Behaving Badly, but do now wonder if it might well have dated too much and just wouldn't be funny any more

MBB was good in its day, but agree, its probably not aged well. Notice how many people.have voted their faves and nobody yet has said Only Fools? Thought that would make most people's top 10 tbh.

Used to love it. Last time I saw an old episode though, I did feel it had dated quite badly
